As I just said in another thread, everyone else was pretty much expected. In the case of Dowd, she’s a veteran who also had a knockout Leftovers episode to push her to the win. Wiley was always gonna be 6th in her category, because she was underutilize throughout the season and voters maybe didn’t connect with her character that much to award her. Dowd had the overdue veteran narrative and a decent enough performance from a breakout hit series. To put in context, Wiley was never gonna win, just like Ventimiglia and Turturro were never frontrunners. People just weren’t passionate about those characters/performances.

That’s the same reason that Headey, Clarke, Williams and Turner will never win because they’re all fan favourites. And in situations where a show has multiple nominees in a category a great performance just isn’t enough and none of these actress have narratives and will probably never win. Dinklage, however can overcome vote-splitting next year even if Coster-Waldau and Harington are nominated because he’s a fan favourite and his character isn’t polarizing. People always root for Tyrion Lannister and this time around he has two winning episodes whereas his fellow supporting actors didn’t have standout arcs, but will mostly benefit from the show’s popularity for at least a nomination.

Yes, PLEASE. September 2018 will be the much deserved coronation of Queen Lena Headey!! SHE HAS NO EMMY!!! IT IS UNFORGIVABLE. Her scene with Dinklage should give her every award on the Earth.

I’d like to think that Uzo Aduba and Maggie Smith stole Lena’s Emmys by a hair and thanks to their own merits, because someone who votes Emilia Clarke instead of Lena Headey doesn’t even deserve to be an Emmy voter.
