First teaser
“Coming next summer”… looks like next season could totally miss the 2019 Emmy cycle.
ReplyJuly 16, 2018 at 12:16 pm #1202588003They’ve already shot half the season, should be done by October, latest. No way it misses. It’s gonna be set in summer ’85 and that’s probably just an ad people in the show will see on their TVs.

July 16, 2018 at 12:31 pm #1202588063If a commercial ends with “coming next summer”, I take it to mean that the thing being advertised is “coming next summer”. I cannot believe that they are skipping the Emmys. There is no reason for it and I cannot understand why Netflix would want that.
ReplyCopy URLJuly 16, 2018 at 1:21 pm #1202588126Season 3 could be set during the summer? It would provide a different dynamic to the show and lean into some of those 80s summer movie cliches. I also don’t see the show waiting until next summer to premiere, maybe late April or May at the latest.
ReplyCopy URLJuly 16, 2018 at 1:30 pm #1202588136I would assume it just meant the setting would be in summer since it makes no sense for them to miss the deadline if they don’t have to.

If Netflix is preparing itself for the year of HBO domination I wonder why they decided to push back this and not the Crown? Or I guess Season 3 could be so big they truly need all this time.

The Battle of StarcoutDecember 9, 2018 at 6:43 pm #1202695987So probably with this summer/pool theme, season three will premiere on June/July.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 9, 2018 at 6:49 pm #1202695992I don’t see how premiering a whole year before the Emmys is going to help its award chances (if that’s what they’re trying to do)

December 9, 2018 at 7:25 pm #1202696009I just hope this season’s biggest villain has an actual interesting personality and isn’t some generic monster like the Demogorgan or that Mind Flayer thing. Not counting Modine who I didn’t consider the main villain of Season 1.

December 9, 2018 at 9:47 pm #1202696073Voters like Stranger Things enough that I don’t think that a summer release should hurt its chances too much. Remember that Season 1 premiered during the summer and did very well. It’s big enough and it’ll have enough hype that it’ll stick in voters’ minds like Game of Thrones just did. Especially seeing as how GoT will be gone next year, they’ll have a much easier road to noms. Also, it’s possible that Netflix is gonna want to push Hill House this year in Drama. Barring a severe drop in quality, The Crown is safe, so Netflix doesn’t need to worry about that one, but it would be really hard for them to get two horror shows in at the same time, so they probably want to separate Hill House and Stranger Things so they can both get the Emmy love.
