This program’s politics are just openly disgusting at this point. I really did not care for Stranger Things in previous seasons, but Holy Hell I am officially a Hater now.

The quality improved as it went on but God I had a hard time getting into it at the start. Maybe it’s because I didn’t give a damn about anyone’s love life and, interpersonal development be damned, I just wanted to get to the monsters? Whatever. I did like the ending. Of course my opinion on the show has always hinged on whether or not Steve survives the season.

The first season is still my favorite.

There aren’t many people who are guest eligible for this season. Cary Elwes and Brett Gelman were both in four episodes, so they’ll have to compete in supporting.

Other than complete nonentities, like Officers Powell and Callahan and Ted Wheeler, there are really only four:

    ******Spoilers*******

    Sean Astin as Bob Newby
    Randy Havens as Scott Clark
    Paul Reiser as Dr. Owens
    Gabriella Pizzolo as Suzie

Of all of those, Havens is the most deserving, but even he doesn’t have much to do. And I may be biased there. I have a soft spot for actors who are able to exude such warmth with limited material, and Havens does that in every scene. It reminds me of Linus Roache (Thomas Wayne) in Batman Begins. Still, they’re all single-scene appearances. Reiser just walks. Astin only giggles. Pizzolo has the most memorable scene of the four. I don’t see much of a chance for any of them, name recognition or no.

Terribly sorry for the double-post but I just finished the season and wow. This was miles better than s2, which was pretty damn good anyway. If season 4 is anywhere near this good I might die. I just have a couple minor gripes.

First off, the editing is good but hilariously predictable. Every other scene ends with a close up on somebody’s face right as they realize something important but before they speak. Just cut, guys.

I did not find Erica as compelling as anybody else here. I found her to be annoying, entitled, grating, and unnecessary. Priah Ferguson read every line the same way, and had two facial expressions. In a cast full of phenomenal young actors, she was the weakest.

Everything else was spectacular. ATAS better give Schnapp the nomination he earned last year, for making me sob uncontrollably in episode 3, and I think Harbour is pretty damn good to win, even with somewhat-lacking material at times. Brown was mediocre at the beginning, but her material and performance got exponentially better in episodes 6, 7, and 8.

Winona Ryder can do no wrong, and she plays Joyce pitch-perfectly in every scene. Hysterical or hilarious, Ryder makes every scene perfect. Her chemistry with Harbour is amazing, and she reigns in most of her overacting from seasons one and two. Maya Hawke hit every note right, with amazing comedic timing and impressive dramatic skills. Her parents taught her right, I guess. Matarazzo and Keery have wonderful chemistry and both give solid performances, except for the annoying singing moment with Dustin. I did not like that.

Sadie Sink was great, very naturalistic, her chemistry with Brown was great. She hit the comedy and drama amazingly.

Dacre Montgomery…holy shit. If Schnapp can’t get in, please let it be because Montgomery stole his spot. From the malevolent purr in his voice to the madness behind his eyes, Montgomery took what could’ve been a one-note character and made him pitiable, terrifying, and intense.

Brett Gelman and Alec Utgof? Amazing. The pair should easily be nominated for Guest Actor, especially Gelman, who did a lot with an obnoxious character and made him a likeable crank.

The direction was superb, epecially “The Battle of Starcourt”, which should definitely be a frontrunner for the Emmy. The writing was all-around fantastic, I can’t pick a standout.

Overall, this season was incredible, and will definitely be in the top 4 or 5 next year for the Drama Series Emmy, maybe higher if certain shows flop.

I want Susie to become a meme and get nominated like Barb just so I can see this websites reaction.

If she was guest eligible it would soo happen. I’d love that too.

    She is eligible, isn’t she?

Pretty sure she appears in at least 6/8 eps?

I think you’re confusing Suzie with Erica.

Ignoring the tired derogatory (which does not even apply – I’m not a Stalinist), I do find myself laughing at this. Yes, I am a socialist.

Can you blame me, Mister? I am really not sure how anyone can defend capitalism at this point.

tbh I was surprised at how warm her reception was. She was a step above Scrappy Doo for me.
