I consider this show to be the most consistent one in terms of quality. I felt like this was the third part of the first season which is not something we often (see The Handmaid’s Tale, Westworld). I also don’t recall being impressed with the show’s direction this much. The Duffer Brothers SHOULD win, the visual aesthetic was simply on point, I never wanted to leave that mall. If this season was eligible this year it wouldn’t have a hard time winning. The acting standouts were Harbour, Ryder, Matarazzo, Hawke, Sink and most notably Priah Ferguson. Really looking forward for the next season (and hopefully the last one, before the child actors turn into teenagers).

This season was not as bingeable as the second one for some reason. The dialogue during big emotional scenes felt somewhat stilted but Hopper’s speech ended up being quite moving. It was fun, exuberant and surprisingly fairly gross at times. The second half was much better than the first, especially the final two episodes. The finale might be the best episode of the show so far.

Similar to Veep, my biggest complaint is the splitting up of the ensemble. There’s a reason the final two episodes are the best of the season. The Duffer Brothers need to realise that the cast works best when most of them are together. Separating them for almost an entire season affects the show considerably.

The first episode was great. I just love the technical aspects, and David Harbour continues to slay. Eleven & Mike is absolutely disgusting, and I feel bad that Wolfhard and Brown had to do that. I love Noah Schnapp, he better get the material he deserves again. Oh, and Dacre Montgomery is already a scene-stealer (in many ways); keep it up!

Oscar FYC - Lupita Nyong'o & Elisabeth Moss ("Us") - Best Actress & Supporting Actress. It must happen; otherwise the Tethered are coming.

I really liked this season. Standout performances for me were Ryder, Harbour, Sink, Ferguson, and specifically, Maya Hawke. She really blew me away. I didn’t think her character would be all that important but I loved every single scene she was in. I’m excited to see what she does next and it looks like she’s about to blow up with her next line-up in projects!!

And peeps, this is one of the best edited shows on TV IMO. The editing is nearly flawless.

I am baffled by the Priah Ferguson mentions. She says every line in the exact same way. It’s like she’s reading off of an autocue.

Darlings… just watched the last episode. It could perfectly be a series finale. It was really emotional. I have to say Winona Ryder and Millie Bobby Brown were incredibly great in this… I’ll be mad if they don’t get a nod in Supporting next year (especially Winona).

The editing was really smooth, but I think they may have cut too often, especially in those later episodes. It was hard to feel genuinely worried about the fates of characters when Hopper would nearly get blended to death in an interdimensional portal and we’d cut to something like Dustin sitting up on the hill talking to Suzie.

Also, that Hopper speech was killer.

Thought the editing faltered when the show struggled to juggle too many threads especially in the last 2 episodes.

The cast is far too large now but felt Ryder was the most authentic and did the most with what little she was given. I like Harbour a lot but Hopper was written to yell far too much and it didn’t help that he had to spend so much time facing off with stereotypical evil Russian terminator.

Mike continues to be insufferable so it was great the show recognised that. The Max and Eleven scenes were my favourite and a breath of fresh air.

They should really wrap this up in Season 4 – maybe with a larger season order?

Currently on Episode Two, watching with my brother. He and I agree, Wolfhard is terrible thus far, Ryder, Keery, Matarazzo, Schnapp, and Harbour are good-to-great.

The horny middle-aged women make me very uncomfortable. Dacre Montgomery in his first scene looks like a racist cop who threatens his daughters prom date with a shotgun.

I agree with Hopper, Mike and Eleven need broken up. They’re gross and annoying and straight.

I really hope Will turns out to be gay. It seems like they’re building up to it.

Addendum 1: Cary Elwes has been onscreen for less than three minutes so far and I want him to win the Guest Actor Emmy.

Addendum 2: Okay, I was not ready for Sink and Brown to have that kind of chemistry.

Addendum 3: Peggy Miley is a wonderful old woman, give her an Emmy for being a delight.

If anyone deserves a Guest Emmy for this show it’s Brett Gelman. I also liked the guy who played Alexei.
