The streaming wars are getting very interesting. Once Game of Thrones ended, I cancelled my HBO subscription and I ordered Disney+ and kept Netflix. Now that HBOMax have announced their line-up, I might cancel my Netflix and keep Disney+ and HBOMax.

Talk about business, HBO came swinging with their presentation. It seems that HBO will be home to Warner Brothers, who we all know is in competition with Disney. HBOMax’s incredible line-up will include new shows for DC, Game of Thrones, and unannounced Harry Potter franchise projects. There will be many TV films released and new series released as well. HBOMax, in my opinion, has won the battle thus far with the amount of material that will be featured on its service.

How did Netflix drop the ball like this? They were not being business savy in my opinion. To be #1, you have to take out Disney and Disney’s main competitor is Warner Brothers (or it at least seems that way). Netflix should have gone after WB and they need to stop with the “Binge release strategy for all shows.” When shows are being binged, they are not only forgotten after a few weeks, but awards campaigns can become difficult. HBO was and is already a step ahead when it comes to the weekly release strategy. Honestly, Disney is depending on Marvel and Star Wars to bring in most of the money but those shows could possibly cancel each other out in a big way. Kevin Feige is super-smart when it comes to Marvel, so he will likely tie-in the Mavrel TV shows with the films to play off of the “Psycho affect.” Also, GOT creators not being involved with Star Wars does hurt the franchise as well.

I am so surprised at how competitive HBO is and I am happy that someone is not backing down from Disney. I will later on get rid of Netflix and keep Disney and HBO.

What streaming services will you be using? Will you have all three? Will you use other services outside of these 3? What are your feelings on the “streaming wars?’

We can use illegal sites here in the US too lol. Anyways, Hulu is a must have, I could honestly do without Netflix after Bojack horseman ends, but I’ll keep that too. I don’t think I’ll pay for any of the new ones. I don’t understand HBO Max, am I supposed to pay for regular hbo and hbo max? Will hbo max have all the same content as hbo?

Yes HBOMax will have ALL of HBO shows, old and new.

Random, but they will also have a Elmo talk shows which seems like a cool idea.

I probably won’t pay for any of them especially Disney+. I’m not subscribing to something just to see Snow White and Marvel movies. Them dumping High Fidelity to Hulu because they considered it too edgy tells you everything you need to know about their future originals.

HBOMax is available through the fam’s cable, so I’m covered on that end. Netflix I only get once in a while anymore, so that’s easy to cut off. Hulu is the same as Netflix but I’m debating on keeping it for awhile. I’m about to get Amazon Prime again because of free shipping and school. I’ll totally get Disney+ too to relive my childhood. Apple…lol. So, all-in-all, I guess I’ll only be paying for Prime and Disney, and maybe Hulu.

“No user starts this shady” - someone culturally relevant.

Also got banned because...reasons? So, I guess ciao.

I am currently in the Netherlands and have free access to Disney+. I really wouldn’t recommend to an adult, unless you’re nostalgic for Disney content.

    Yes,
It was announced that there will be a prequel or sequel project for the Harry Potter franchise, which is under the WB studio. There is a rumor that filming has begun, but nothing is confirmed as of yet.

Here are two videos from one of my favorite YouTubers Grace.
The first video, the breaks down much of the content HBOMax will have and in the 2nd video, she compares the top streaming services.

I think the best thing would have been to remake the 7 books into an enormous TV series project of 7 seasons. THAT would be awesome.

It will for sure happen in a decade or so. It’s too early now.

It sounds good, but I think nowadays, with franchises now following the “Psycho Affect” (keep everything a secret), the only way that idea would work would be to make plot changes, which could be good or bad.

Game of Thrones did so because people wanted to know “what happens next.”
