Give Snook an Emmy nod, now please.
The premiere was excellent, the tone of this show is simply excellent. There is serious best-Drama-of-the-year-so-far talk around this season, and I really hope that can manifest itself with the show gaining momentum at the end of the year awards. I’d love to see a SAG Ensemble Breakthrough, and some victories at Critics Choice.August 12, 2019 at 5:43 pm #1203021228
Great premiere, exceptional performances and great writing.
The show should get Golden Globes nominations for Drama Series, Drama Actor (Strong) and Supporting Actor (Culkin).August 12, 2019 at 5:53 pm #1203021230
Very good premiere. Shiv was underutilized last season, seems like she’ll be more of a central figure this season which is good.
One review pointed out (this isn’t something I noticed) that the opening credits have changed a bit from last season, with new ones featuring Shiv much more prominently, which leads them to speculate she’ll be much more prominent this season, possibly even de facto lead in a similar way to Jeremy Strong in season 1.August 12, 2019 at 5:56 pm #1203021232
Even though it was somewhat soft in its nomination haul, I actually think that this is the holdover most likely to keep its spot next year among the onslaught of heavy hitters.
Really strong premiere. Would be a worthy contender for both writing and directing and Snook and Strong, in particular, were standouts among the actors.August 13, 2019 at 9:20 pm #1203023007
Sarah Snook where have you been all my life? That clip Tyler posted, I have to stan.
The premiere was excellent but I can’t pretend I’m not extremely disappointed in how little Cousin Greg was in it. I’m afraid that his role was really just to ease the audience into this world, and now that job is done so I’m not sure his character will have much to do from now on.August 15, 2019 at 3:32 pm #1203025631
I am not concerned about the lack of cousin Greg (and Matthew Macfadyen). The premiere was focused on setting up the main arc and their characters are on the periphery. Jeremy Strong was the standout of the premiere, but it looks like it will be a true ensemble show this season, which will make it even harder for anyone to break into lead. I did not expect to see Danny Huston, but if even James Cromwell could not get nominated, he has no chance. No Holly Hunter starts to open up the possibility of her qualifying for guest. The episode lived up to its series-best-IMDb-rating hype at the start, but things slowed down by the end. It looked like a bad green screen at the start. The zingers that they gave Kieran Culkin seemed more forced than usual. The show knocking it out of the park would have helped me sleep easier with all of the Emmy wins that I am predicting for it. Good to see J. Smith-Cameron added to the credits, but how is Rob Yang still in there? They clearly had no idea what to do with him last season and he was again missing with this episode.August 15, 2019 at 3:59 pm #1203025655
This show NEEDS to get a SAG ensemble nomination. It has like no shot, but damn its deserving.August 15, 2019 at 4:38 pm #1203025686

I think Greg will become Tom’s right hand at ATN, so worry not about cousin Greg (but always worry about him somewhat lol).August 18, 2019 at 9:05 am #1203028776

That was so savage! Like wow, this is just the second episode lol. Was also loving Jeannie Berlin popping up here and getting Caitlin Fitzgerald back, even in this limited capacity. Ridiculously great tonight! I didn’t want it to end.August 20, 2019 at 11:24 am #1203031942
