If corporate America controlled by these families are not diverse then why this show is not criticizing that? REPLY2IGNORE

It literally is though… there was a whole joke where Greg is watching a Waystar promo/orientation ad showing an ultra diverse actors as executives, and then he looks up at the conference room where the executives are just finishing up a meeting and they’re literally all white men. The Pierces are shown to be overtly liberal, Nan Pierce makes a show of asking her hispanic housekeeper to “stop working so hard and take a break with them” while snatching the dinner main course from her and being applauded for it. Logan’s kid treat his racism and sexism as a joke.

Talking about diversity in this instance is difficult. On the one hand, the whiteness of the Roy family is crucial to the story, and as the characters are almost universally awful people to varying degrees (yes – including the Pierce family), I wouldn’t consider diversifying the main cast as positive or even accurate representation necessarily.

However, the show has sidelined some of its most interesting characters (Hiam Abbass’ Marcia) and subplots (Rob Yang’s Vaulter storyline) at the expense of the few non-white cast members it has, which I think has been unwise.

I’d like to see the writers more explicitly comment on race, and make Marcia a lead because Abbass is a star.

    For Your Consideration:

Best International Feature: Instinct (The Netherlands)
Best Actress: Carice van Houten (Instinct)

Yea the constant minimizing of Marcia is really their biggest blindspot in this regard, being the only non-white member of the central family and being the one with BY FAR the least screentime. And it’s a shame because the little bit of her we do get is so interesting. I cross my fingers and hope they’re playing the long game with her.

Hopefully if things really are rocky between her and Logan (was implied at the end of last season) that will be used to give her more juicy material rather than less.

    This Marcia’s moment was iconique:

Just give Abbas more material and she’ll kill it. I do think the set up at the end of the season 2 is promising regarding her, so we shall see. Hoping for an Emmy nom!
