If Insecure is competing next year, I think it’s the frontrunner to win Comedy Series, Actress, Supporting Actress and Writing/Directing.

This is sending me. But I would definitely love to see it (the film doing well. I’m sure the actress bit is a joke because…). Anyways, would this go Movie or Variety Special (Pre- Recorded)?

If Insecure is competing next year, I think it’s the frontrunner to win Comedy Series, Actress, Supporting Actress and Writing/Directing.

I think it is easily top 3 (probably top 2 as well) if it returns (which it looks like it will considering how table reads have apparently started) but whether it wins or not depends on how it performs with Actors next year (i.e. it needs more acting noms), with the writers and if it is going to be its final season (which in that case I think this race is over like it was when Fleabag season 2 premiered and when Schitt’s Creek season 6 premiered).

well. I’m sure the actress bit is a joke because…).

I just put Beyonce in (I’m not predicting her lol) the list of contenders just to try and count how many nominees there will be in each category (if we have a worse comes to worse situation where we have a shutdown that causes everything that is midway or at the beginning of production to miss).

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

Anyways, would this go Movie or Variety Special (Pre- Recorded)?

Movie I would imagine, all of the marketing for it used the tagline “A Film By Beyoncé”.

Homecoming did as well but that’s a straight up concert (hence the Variety nomination) whereas BIK has a narrative structure.

I think Netflix will push for Ozark season 4A to make eligibility for this cycle. Sure, it’ll have to go up against The Crown season 4, but I think they’ll put their focus on The Crown in 2021 and then throw all their money behind Ozark 4B in 2022.

Just out of curiosity, why the confidence in P-Valley? I haven’t heard a single person talk about it outside these forums.

I think Netflix will push for Ozark season 4A to make eligibility for this cycle. Sure, it’ll have to go up against The Crown season 4, but I think they’ll put their focus on The Crown in 2021 and then throw all their money behind Ozark 4B in 2022.

Hmm I don’t know. This year was DISASTROUS for Netflix in campaigning. When Succession became a massive hit it was HBO’s 1 and only priority in every Drama race apart from Actress and look what HBO did in Drama this year (6/10 of the categories!) And then with Watchmen again HBO made it it’s no.1 priority and it did well. On the other side Netflix divided their Drama attention between Ozark and The Crown too much and their Limited/Movie attention between Unorthodox and Unbelievable and look what that resulted in for them. 2/28 above the line (incl. guest acting) wins.

I think with The Crown definitely missing eligibility in 2022 that Netflix is going to keep Ozark for the following year so it can have the best shot it can at winning Drama Series in 2021 and 2022 (it could win one but it won’t win both because HBO).

I don’t know why people are quite confident in it. I don’t think it’s a big juggernaut contender because of its critical acclaim because its on Starz so I don’t know why people are predicting it for the Globes.

However I am predicting in Writing because of Katori Hall’s status as a writer and also because I think it can Pen15/early Americans itself to a nomination.

I mean, John Legend is laughably an Emmy nominated actor, so Beyoncé snatching a nod wouldn’t be that bad.

2018 was wild, him, Ricky Martin & Sara Bareilles all became Emmy nominated actors in actual acting categories.

    Gaga’s impact I guess.

    Limited Series

    – A Teacher (FX on Hulu)

This was developed prior to the Disney-Fox merger, even though its premiering on FX on Hulu, wouldn’t it be credited to just FX like Mrs. America & Devs?

Periods where one network took most of the Series awards:

    Comedy late 50s CBS
    Early 60s CBS
    Late 60s NBC
    Early 70s CBS
    Late 70s CBS
    Early 80s ABC
    Late 80s NBC
    Early 90s NBC
    Late 90s NBC
    Late 00s NBC
    Early 10s ABC
    Late 10s HBO
    5x NBC, 4x CBS, 2x ABC, 1x HBO

    Drama early 60s CBS
    Early 80s NBC
    Early 90s CBS
    Late 90s ABC
    Early 00s NBC
    Early 10s AMC
    Late 10s HBO
    NBC x2, CBS x2, ABC/AMC/HBO x1

So I guess HBO domination is at early 60s CBS levels.

Movie I would imagine, all of the marketing for it used the tagline “A Film By Beyoncé”. Homecoming did as well but that’s a straight up concert (hence the Variety nomination) whereas BIK has a narrative structure.

    wow very interesting.

lmao exactly. And did ya’ll see Otherside? My girl was bawling… serving range haha

To be honest, P-Valley is wishful thinking, but damn… I wish more people saw it, so it could actually get some noms anywhere.
