After assuming the best case scenario (most shows returning to eligibility and we still having the same amount of slots we’re predicting this year) I thought I’d look at the scenario that the whole Drama field is barren and we have 8 Drama Series nominees, 5 Drama Lead, 5 Drama Guest and 6 Drama Supporting (we’re forgetting the possibility that we could have massive ensemble shows coming up), Writing and Directing and then predict how that would look like.

They’d be more than 20 submissions in the lead categories

    EMMY FYC

The Crown in all categories (inc. Olivia Colman & Gillian Anderson)

I May Destroy You, It’s a Sin, Stateless & The Queens Gambit

Kate Winslet, Keeley Hawes, Shaun Parkes, Marielle Heller, Michaela Coel

Ted Lasso & The Flight Attendant in all categories.

I thought a category gets 4 nominees if it was under 100 submissions. Thanks for the correction.

    4. Jon Jon Briones, Ratched

I don’t think he will be the lead actor.

    6. Diane Lane, Y

There is no way Y: The Last Man finishes production before May 2021, they recently recasted the lead actor.

    Tatiana Maslany, Perry Mason

    She’ll be supporting.

    7. His Dark Materials (HBO) 8. The Good Doctor (ABC)

These two are not getting in, especially The Good Doctor.

    DRAMA SUPPORTING ACTRESS

    1. Gillian Anderson, The Crown
    2. Helena Bonham Carter, The Crown
    3. Emma Corrin, The Crown
    4. Sarah Snook, Succession
    5. Sharon Stone, Ratched
    6. Olivia Williams, The Nevers

    7. Cynthia Nixon, Ratched
    8. Judy Davis, Ratched
    9. Yvonne Strahovski, The Handmaid’s Tale
    10. J. Smith Cameron, Succession/Emerald Fennel, The Crown/Ann Dowd, The Handmaid’s Tale

If Jesse Armstrong chooses to turn the focus on Roman next season, I hope J. Smith-Cameron gets more screentime and meatier material to be more of a contender in 2021. (Fingers crossed.)

    FYC:
Tobias Menzies, The Crown | J. Smith-Cameron, Succession
Christine Baranski, The Good Fight | Matthew Macfadyen, Succession

I took Y out after finding this out and forgot to take it out for everything else.

I don’t think he will be the lead actor..

I have him there as a placeholder for now.

    She’ll be supporting.

Until Perry Mason airs I have her as Lead.

These two are not getting in, especially The Good Doctor.

I would love it if you actually READ what I said at the top of it instead of just skimming through. I said there are my worst case scenario predictions. I made predictions on the previous page of what I think will actually get in.

If Jesse Armstrong chooses to turn the focus on Roman next season, I hope J. Smith-Cameron gets more screentime and meatier material to be more of a contender in 2021. (Fingers crossed.)

Me too! I’m just worries the show won’t return on time. I am a big fan of your profile name and profile picture (the latter should seem obvious) by the way! I hope J gets in this year!

If it airs in Spring 2021 I think it actually will be better for the show’s chances.

While it may be entirely due to the shooting, I wouldn’t be surprised if Handmaid’s Tale purposely delayed their release so that they can once again have a season opening near voting, as they no longer have the advantage of having the future season come out while people are voting for the one currently competing.

Not like it’s going to be a big player or anything but Cobra Kai is moving from YouTube Premium to Netflix for season 3.
