I just finished The Righteous Gemstones, and I have to say it was fucking phenomenal. I was so pleasantly surprised by not only the hilarity, but also the great depth of character and heart at work. I don’t know if it could end up a player in the race or not, but I think it would definitely deserve consideration for these categories: -Comedy Series -Lead Actor: Danny McBride -Supporting Actor: Walton Goggins -Supporting Actor: John Goodman -Supporting Actress: Cassidy Freeman -Supporting Actress: Edi Patterson -Guest Actor: Dermot Mulroney -Guest Actress: Mary Hollis Inboden -Guest Actress: Jennifer Nettles -Directing -Writing I’d even support wins for Goggins, Patterson, and Nettles. The show could have easily been a one-and-done, but I am definitely looking forward to spending time in the surprisingly affecting world McBride and Co. have built and where they decide to take it in season 2. Definitely did not expect to like it this much. Here’s hoping it can catch on and surprise, I guess.

I’ve just finished this – I was surprised to enjoy it so much. Generally strong performances all round (although DeVine, as always, is a weak link for me) – Edi Patterson as Judy was my most consistent MVP and is a memorable performance which I hope she gains traction for. Writing excellent too.

Maggie Gyllenhaal for “The Deuce”. Her performance in last week’s episode when she obviously was talking about her father was piercing. She will get overlooked, just like the series, but if I could vote she would be first on my ballot.

She was miles better than the entire line up this year. Shame she never got more than a single Globe nom, not even TCA, which was disappointing.

I feel like we go through this every year where people don’t predict Milo and then he ultimately still makes it in lol.

I think Milo won’t be dropped until Sterling is aswell. Voters are checking off both of them. So if you predict Milo to get dropped, drop Sterling aswell.

I always feel like Milo (and Sterling) is always at least in the top 3 so i’m always confused when people predict a complete snub for him. It will be very interesting in 2020 though because we’ll have two contenders from Westworld, two from This Is Us and two from Succession. Now Succession hasn’t scored any acting Emmy nomination but I feel like if it were to do so, it would first and foremost be in this category.

Then there’s current winner Billy Porter, SAG winner Jason Bateman, The Crown’s Tobias Menzies, always- nominated Bob Odenkirk, newbie Steve Carrel and even recent Oscar winner Rami Malek. TWELVE viable contenders so this should be a very exciting race!

Malek is 100% not happening though, let’s be real.

She’s always been super overlooked in general. Such an underrated actress.
