Headey lost for seasons 5 & 6 and you expect her to win for a season where she barely did anything? Voters don’t have in mind that they robbed her before and it’s her time. If they wanted they would have already rewarded her. The GoT ladies will lethally vote-split. Garner is winning. Shaw is coattail/filler.

Lena Headey had stiffer competition for season 5 and 6. Her winning this year is not far-fetched. The fact that she was nominated this year when she so-called “did nothing”, says that they know who she is and have been paying attention to her work.

She’s an easy name-check coattail in an incredibly weak year. If the competition was like previous years she wouldn’t have gotten in.

She got in for Season 7 over any other supporting actresses in Game of Thrones. Lena Headey is a lot stronger than just a name-check. If anything, that name-checker title belongs to Sophie Turner.

Goodness. Who said anything about last year. I am talking this year. It the competition was stiff she’d be dropped because of the severe lack of material. “The Bells” which y’all are endlessly promoting is barely a nomination-worthy tape. Performances like that are given so many times by actors on films and TV and have gone unrecognized. Headey deserved all of her noms, but not this year’s. She got name-checked as I said, being part of the biggest and most prominent show of the year. Many actors have been dropped before for their final seasons. There’s nothing that could stop Headey from being dropped in a different year.

Lena’s great in the Bells but I honestly can not understand why so many people are obsessed with it to the point of rating Headey so far ahead. I’m not sure how you can watch Gwendoline Christie in A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms + The Last of The Starks + even the finale white book scene and come to the conclusion that Headey is so far ahead of the pack.

I’m supporting Headey to the end but I have to say, the people trying to claim The Bells as some kind of masterclass performance are simply doing so to further justify their support.

I personally think her performance in “The Bells” was great because you felt sympathy for Cersei. As despicable of a person she was, Lena portrayed her as a pregnant lady that honestly just wanted her baby to live. Lena had a certain balance to her performance where one minute you hated Cersei than the next minute you kind of feel bad for her.

Last year featured some of the most competitive fields for both drama actress and supp. actress. IMO, it’s quite telling that Headey was able to get in and her co-stars weren’t. And tbh, I don’t even think she was #6 or #7.

She probably was below Thandie Newton (well obviously lol), THT actresses except maybe Alexis Bledel and Vanessa Kirby. So yeah she was probably 5 or 6, because I assume she was above MBB.

I better be wrong but I’m done predicting Headey. She reminds me of Cruz last year for ACS. Someone I rooted for and had an actual chance at winning, also being on a show that was able of sweeping, but wasn’t undeniable enough, due to lack of material although being Emmy-worthy, in order to overcome vote-splitting. And since vote-splitting is real at the Emmys, Gwendoline Christie and maybe Maisie feel like the Judith Light of this case. I’m sticking with Garner. She’s super baity with no danger of vote splitting, while Shaw is coattail and she’s neither on a show that will sweep nor is she a previous Emmy winner for this role and actress of legendary status like Smith, though I’m not counting her out. And it’s about time we got a young winner in this category.

I will praise Garner super highly, and acknowledge Headey and Williams as great contenders but I am going all in Gwendoline Christie. It’s four months later and the most memorable stuff for me from all 3 shows is her scenes. Social media and the press confirms that I am not the only person that thinks this way. She’s loved, I loved her this season and I thought she was clearly best on performance of all six. I’m not going to tie myself in knots over vote splitting  or Headey being overdue. Best tape, most memorable performance of the nominees of the year.

I know I’m in the minority but i think Thandie Newton was the best of last year contenders (follow by Kirby) and she was completely deserving of what should had been her second consecutive win.  The thing is that the popularity alone of GoT is not enough to get an Emmy for Lenna Heady who didn’t have to compete with Emilia Clarke or Maise Williams…if it didn’t happened last year it sure won’t happen  this one.

FYC: Drama Series: Game of Thrones, Comedy Series: Barry, Limited Series: Chernobyl, Drama Lead Actor: Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Drama Lead Actress: Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Drama Directing: Miguel Sapochnik for The Long Night (Game of Thrones), Drama Writing: Jed Mercurio for Episode 1 (Bodyguard)

I have no idea where people think this path to a Christie victory is gonna come from. Garner (SAG nomination this year), Shaw (2 individual nominations this year), and Headey (5 straight nominations for her role) all have more support from actual voters.

For what it’s worth, Christie is 1/1 on Emmy noms despite no HBO FYC backing and wasn’t eligible for SAG.

But honestly as I said I’m sick of over analysing the rest of it. I pure and simple think she was the best of the bunch and her performance is by far the most memorable. Yes you’re right about Headey and her five noms etc but….I still think Christie was better sometimes it really does just come to who was the strongest performance.
