I am continuously impressed with the stanning the Headey fans are doing this season. They should be commended for their consistency and passion even as dumb “experts” abandoned her no doubt under the false pretenses that voters are solely voting on seasons work.

They will be in my thoughts and prayers when Fiona Shaw walks up the accept the trophy…no doubt wearing a sensible outfit.

If Fiona Shaw wins it’ll be so undeserving. Honestly, Garner, Headey, or Christie are the only ones I’d be happy with winning. I’d also be okay with Maisie Williams winning but if Sophie Turner or Fiona Shaw walks up on that stage it’ll be REALLY disappointing.

Darling, you will be happy. Lena Headey is getting her Emmy. Otherwise, our kingdom will turn to dust and Thatcher will leave.

LENA HEADEY hasn't got an Emmy for Game of Thrones????? Emmys you need to win her right now!!
If Lena Headey doesn't win the Emmy, I'm leaving GoldDerby forever.

Fiona Shaw winning would be an absolute catastrophe. I simply can’t believe a voter could decide she gave the best supporting performance of the year. Lena Headey gave a stunning performance throughout all 8 seasons of Game of Thrones and voters will acknowledge that.

    GIVE LENA HEADEY HER EMMY

Julia Garner has a good submission and her performance left a good impression. If splitting occurs among the nominees from Game of Thrones, then Julia Garner will benefit.

This race comes down to Lena Headey vs. Julia Garner with Gwendoline Christie as a spoiler.

Emmyfan, thoughts on Williams? I agree on your thoughts (I do have quite a lot of confidence that Christie has a good chance to spoil). I’d be pretty surprised by Shaw and Turner. Maisie Williams on the other hand…she is popular, but is it “had a nice arc and popular with the public who saw her grow up” popular or Academy popular?

I honestly think that since the Supporting Actress race doesn’t have a clear frontrunner, voters are just going to vote for who they like personally. As much as I want Lena Headey to win, Gwendoline Christie may very well take this. People in the industry adore her.

It’s definitely interesting that Christie’s narrative of submitting herself has been talked about way more than Headey’s overdue narrative, which I really haven’t seen being talked about outside goldderby.

She was really wonderful this season and deserves to be taken seriously, and she comes across as very likeable and serious about promoting/advocating more broad roles for women.

Geez she was great across from Elisabeth Moss in Top of the Lake last year. I feel like she is destined for bigger things, upset or not.

She’s really nice too. I met her at SDCC back in 2017 and she was so lovely. She’s incredibly likable which will earn her some votes. And Pulp is right, she’s getting a lot of press on the fact that she submitted herself. She’ll garner some sympathy votes for sure.

i think sympathy is not quite the right word. I think that narrative of “hang on – what?” by various quarters is justified. Not submitting her is strategic, of course, but her performance was incredibly deserving of a nomination and it’s not an accident that she’s gotten far more press than Van Houten and Allen for the same thing. And realistically – submitting Turner over her makes sense only probably from the perspective of Turner having a traditionally larger role in my opinion.

Certainly I think voters will be empathetic. For every academy member who is a star submitted by their show I suspect there are probably a handful of others like Christie who have had to self submit. This newer voting system as opposed to the older panel system may well be favourable.

I guess if anyone else had to win it should be Gwendoline her submission is my favorite episode of Season 8.
