I know its early, and we all know who the Emmy Darlings are (Not going to say any names) but who do you think will be a suprise nomination when they are released?  I would LOVE to see Bellamy Young get a nomination for Scandal.  The episode “Everythings Coming Up Mellie” was such a strong episode for her and her acting ability is beyond the roof this season.  I also am expecting to see Audra McDonald get a nom for The Sound of Music Live, she carried that trainwreck with her vocals.  Would love to see Carrie be denied, but something deep down tells me that people are going to place her on ther because she has tricked people into thinking that she can sing.

Anyway, just my opinion.  Please feel free to discuss

Umm, okay, this Carrie bashing is getting downright ridiculous and needs to stop. Unjust comments like the one made above are exactly the reason why. The bulk of criticism Carrie Underwood received was for her limited acting skills (which, btw, I didn’t find even remotely as appalling as most people made it out to be), NOT her singing. Everyone knows that girl has pipes, and for anyone who’s ever doubted that, she proved it again here by belting out every single one of those tunes to perfection. It’s simply unfathomable to me that there are evidently people out there who have the audacity to claim that this powerhouse performer cannot sing!  Complete, utter rubbish.

Let me say my piece, IMO, Carrie is a second rate singer who should be a background singer, she screams not sings. Just the way I have felt since she was on Idol. Now, the subject can be dropped.

As soon as I saw the first sentence I was going to say Bellamy Young! Yes she has always been amazing on Scandal but this season she has been INCREDIBLE and she even has a real showcase episode that would be a perfect submission I really hope the voters remember her next year, and with Scandal being a primetime show ending much later than cable hopefully they will be.

I’d also love to see  lena Heady nom for GoT she was my personal winner for season 2, but from what I;ve heard about her storyline that might actually not be that big a surprise.

Also anything from Parks and Rec getting in (other than the undeniable Amy Poehler), literally anything. The best comedy on television

Well, since it appears you’ve already got your mind made up, it won’t really make much difference what I say. Simply put, I just feel it’s absurd to call anyone a “second-rate singer” who’s gained as much worldwide exposure, garnered millions of fans, and become a multi-Platinum-selling recording artist as Carrie Underwood has. And, can we spell SIX-TIME GRAMMY WINNER!!  I rest my case.

I am not going to get into an argument defending my opinion.  Everyone is entitled to one.  So I hope that you have a GREAT day and a very MERRY CHRISTMAS.

I assume that, even though it was (more or less) live and not filmed, NBC’s The Sound of Music Live is considered a movie for Emmy purposes?  Or would it be Special Class, in which case, would Carrie (as the “principal performer”) get an Emmy if the show won, but other than that, I don’t think anyone can be nominated for performing?  (It’s certainly not a “variety program,” since there was definitely a story line involved.)

As for Carrie being nominated (assuming it is considered a movie), you have to remember that only actors vote for nominations in the acting category, and, singing ability notwithstanding (and yes, I am one of those people whom you believe “have been tricked into thinking that she can sing”), a considerable number of them will remember that, well, her acting in that show left a lot to be desired.  Also remember that she would have to compete against the lead actresses in all of the other movies and miniseries; in my opinion, she just didn’t have the presence to earn a nomination (and the fact that it was “live” and not on film might hurt Audra’s chances as well).
