With all the praise and word of mouth, I believe that Ted Lasso already has guaranteed nominations at the Emmy 2021 in Series and Actor.

Maybe Writing and Supporting Actress (Waddingham) but it will depend on whether the competition is strong or weak.

I love this show but was hesitant to predict as it seemed like maybe too much of an internet thing. But if other people are seeing it too then maybe I can have hope for it. The Globes do love anything with a European element and maybe that can start a healthy run for the show

I had the show and Sudeikis #1 at the Globes immediately after I finished watching it. I hope I’m 100% right and it even wins big.

Just finished this. What a season of wholesome TV! Hope Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham(!), and Juno Temple get in at awards for this (and possibly win some too, they’re all extremely deserving)

Cross posting from the binge thread: I just burned through Ted Lasso in a couple of nights. Super sweet! Turned the hackneyed ’emotionally literate Americans help uptight Brits be better’ cliche on its head with a really diverse football team/cast. I loved the idea that domineering loud people are the minority who take up space and attention from the normal, positive and non-complaining quiet majority. When Tartt stepped aside, the team were actually all really nice people, and kindness breeds kindness. Good show.

Just wanted to also add that the writing felt SO British! Punchy, fast and no need to explain the obvious, just letting jokes hit. I don’t know if American viewers will get everything. But for me (Australian who lived several years in the UK), there were serious laugh out loud moments but it was also sweet in that American way.

Bill Lawrence is a TV Veteran who never won an Emmy, he never got even a nomination as a Writer.

I think he has a very solid chance this year , if Apple does a Good campaign.

Just started and I totally get the hype now. That Pilot should be their writing submission because it may have been one of the best pilots I’ve seen in a while. The beats of some of the jokes were a bit off but it was still quite well written.

HANNAH WADDINGHAM!!! I came for Jason Sudeikis but I’m staying for her. Completely stole the Pilot for me. Juno Temple and Brett Goldstein were also great.

Felt like a Sky comedy (peeps in the UK will get the reference) meeting 30 Rock. I have Sudeikis in for now at the Globes but I won’t be surprised to see it get into Series over Schitt’s Creek (like Succession did over GoT last year) and win Series there or if it actually ended up sweeping at the Emmys next year.

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", AMANDA SEYFRIED FOR "MANK", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

Started today and I’m three episodes in. The first episode is very good, but it definitely takes off in the second. Jason Sudeikis is infectiously lovable, and Hannah Waddingham is just terrific. Both of them have also gotten to show off some strong dramatic chops as well. The whole cast so far is really excellent overall. Looking forward to the rest.

I hadn’t even heard of this show until last night, I saw the premise and was immediately hooked. As a Brit who loves football (it’s not called Soccer btw). I’m over halfway through the show and I absolutely love this. This is officially my favourite AppleTV show. I feel the same way that I felt when I first watched Barry, not that they’re particularly similar shows but that they were shows that felt like they written just for me.

Sudeikis is amazing as is Juno Temple and Hannah Waddingham. There’s a lot of references and inside jokes I understand as i’m both a TV and football lover. I’m all in on this show. It’s so wholesome and likeable and just a great watch all round. Love the cast, i’m absolutely rooting for this comes awards season.

Back again to say that literally any episode with Hannah Waddingham that I’ve seen so far (up to episode 5 now) is a win worthy tape.

Just seen “Make Rebecca Great Again”. I think that’s the standout episode of the show for me so far and should be Sudeikis and Waddingham’s episode submissions. Would also be a great Writing submission.

I agree. Its definitely, in my opinion, the best episode of the season. I do hope Sudekis gets a double nomination for it.
