If I may, and this is not to say that the predictions are wrong, but the Mandalorian made an Emmy impact on the strengths of crafts and crafts alone. Why have faith in it being a writing and directing player now? Is it a “don’t underestimate it twice” mentality?

THR released an article about 48 showrunners sharing their favorite shows of 2020 and the most mentioned show is undoubtedly I May Destroy You. The second most mentioned ones are The Queen’s Gambit and Normal People. I may be wrong but The Queen’s Gambit immense popularity might not be enough to win over I May Destroy You.

Finally someone is agreeing with me about this.

I am getting weird Chernobyl vibes from The Queen’s Gambit. I feel like it will win Series and Supporting at the Globes but Actress imo is a two horse race between Coel and Taylor-Joy. At worst I May Destroy You is having the same awards trajectory as When They See Us (except I am not sure if it will get in at SAG). We talk about how with audiences TQG is the show of the moment but IMDY is just as much a phenomenon with the industry on both sides of the atlantic as TQG.

I mean I’m pretty sure the show is taking Series and Actress at CC. Maybe even S. Actor too because that category is empty and Essiedu has a lot of buzz.

If something from TQG win it’s Anya first and foremost, imo. The show isn’t winning without her but she can win even if it doesn’t take series prize.

    Eh I don’t know.

She obviously has buzz but I feel there is more buzz and acclaim for the show than her.

Really? Because after reading that THR article, I got the opposite impression. IMDY got 5 mentions while NP and TQG had 4…but 3 people named TQG the show of the year compared to just one for IMDY, which I honestly expected to be the far and away frontrunner. TQG has just turned out to be one of those rare phenomena across the board that would be hard-pressed to ignore during awards time.

And much like Kidman/BLL or Paulson/ACS, I see Anya as a package deal with the show as a whole for now.

PS: Also quite surprised how well Normal People has held up. Did not expect that.

I don’t see much distinction, frankly — she is that show.

Gosh, now I love Chris Mundy (Ozark) even more, his description of Normal People is just perfect. Daisy Edgar-Jones has to be SAG nominated now, pretty please!

Looks like Mrs. America has WGA (Original) on lock.

I am actually not so much surprised. I think had it aired a few months before it did it would have slipped into Series and Actress. It feels like it has more buzz (right now) than Unorthodox does.

Considering how populist PGA can be I won’t be surprised if we end up with a lineup of Better Call Saul, Bridgerton, The CrownThe Mandalorian and Ozark there.

    Just made predictions for WGA.

I wasn’t sure what would be eligible as American and what wouldn’t be, but the big ones I left out that I think would or could get nominations if they’re eligible would be I Hate Suzie, I May Destroy You, Normal People, Schitt’s Creek, Sex Education, and Unorthodox.

Again, unsure what the period of eligibility is so I’ve just done 2020 releases.

Yikes, okay. Ugh. Thanks for alerting me. I’ll just predict three nominees in that category then cause I have no idea what the f*** else could fill that slot.

Also if we see five nods in Long Form Adapted it’ll be The Good Lord Bird.
