It was just ordered to series. Odd that they are changing the title altogether. Brühl, Fanning and Evans will all be reprising their roles. I am very happy about this news!

What this means for the Emmys is a different story…

I’m sorry, but like with PGA and BLL nominations voting should be done all over again. Only this time, for convenience sake, for ONLY the categories with the branches The Alienist got nominated in. Of course, it will have to be kicked out of Limited Series entirely. I’m guessing Twin Peaks came in 6th due to its Picture Editing, Writing, and Directing nods, so that will serve as the obvious replacement nominee. That’s my suggestion to fix this situation anyway. I doubt it will happen.

Note to myself: Don’t ever feed the trolls. Don’t get involved in others drama. Don’t let myself be swayed by others predictions, trust my gut more often!

Note to all others: If you don’t happen to like me, ignore me. It is that simple.

Yeah, this kind of fraud needs to be stopped. It’s completely out of hand at this point. How many times will the TV Academy keep letting this slide? TNT knew full well they were going to renew it when they submitted it as a Limited, and now they are pulling the “name change” excuse to pretend it’s a different show even though it’s got the same 3 leads in it.

Honestly, it deserves to have its nomination rescinded and given to the 6th place nominee (though it would be weird if that were Twin Peaks, because that show isn’t really a Limited either).

But, an Emmy spokesperson has already confirmed to Variety that the show is allowed to keep its nomination and is “locked in” for this year, so to speak. They will assess its placement for the new season when the time comes to submit.

Of course that’s not gonna happen. They are in the middle of voting, no one has time to redo anything. The academy simply doesn’t care, I don’t blame networks for pursuing this strategy!

This strategy is clever but not the least bit honorable. Then again, when has Hollywood ever been known for honor?

    Limited Series:
    American Crime Story S2
    Genius S2
    Alienist S1

Most of 2017, 2016, 2014, the limited parts of 2013, the limited parts of 2012 also were multi-season programs.

However, Picasso and Versace in no way continued the storyline of the first series. The only thing Versace has in common with People v. O.J. is the “ACS” in the title. It tells its own entirely separate storyline with its own separate characters. Same with Genius, of course. Versace and Picasso are both objectively Limited Series that definitely should not be compared to The Alienist and Big Little Lies.

This show looked like a regular procedural series from the pilot

I mean at this point with AHS bringing back characters, it should be kicked out of the category as well. I have no issue with ACS, Genius, Fargo, Feud (if it ever comes back), or True Detective because those are truly different stories and new characters each season

Season 2 was a prequel to season 1 with tie ins, already seen characters, and even Allison Tolman.

Yeah, Fargo is a Drama series that focuses on different characters within the same fictional universe, just at different time periods. It’s not a true limited series at all.

AHS also deserves to be kicked out of Limited too, especially with this crossover season (not that it didn’t have crossovers before).

It’s not like Twin Peaks isn’t a fraud either. Imo they should rescind all the nominations that the Alienist got in categories that are exclusive for Limited Series and call it a day. But whatever, we all know they wouldn’t do that.

So Academy can revoke This Is Us and Veep’s nomination but not The Alienist’s? I remember The Alienist was first placed as a drama series in the prediction center, so it was clearly an awards strategy for TNT. This is not the same case with Big Little Lies’.
