The best* reality competition show is back! Even though the episode was titled “The Kindness of Strangers”, the Cindy quoted “I Feel So Asian Right Now” is by far the better (and apted) title.
First impressions? I’m liking Edwin and Cindy so far and am already annoyed with both young female teams. It will definitely take another week or two before nailing down the rest of the contenders.
*because the Emmys say so.September 27, 2011 at 7:02 pm #229099
I still can’t believe the passport thing happened. I feel like I need to go back and check the thing again.
Too early to tell if there are favorites, as usual I choked up with the non elimination leg, I always do and more so with these poor people who didn’t have a clue about the balloons. But I loved how the lady inmediatly got the task that some of the dumb chicks couldn’t get.September 30, 2011 at 3:44 pm #229100
I’d probably have my favorites by the next two to three weeks So far, that was an intensely crazy season starter! I have my doubts with the passport thingy, but no biggie.October 2, 2011 at 8:59 pm #229101
The reading comprehension for these teams……unbelievable.October 3, 2011 at 3:13 pm #229102
Damn for Ethan and Jenna. I was sooo rooting for them.
I don’t like the nagging brothers and sisters because they’re just so disoriented. The girl needs some anger management issues.October 3, 2011 at 4:36 pm #229103
Gotta say, though, about that sign almost everyone missed: There was no indication on their clue to look for anything else when they got to the orphanage. Racers are trained to look for the yellow and red flag. The clue told them to go to the orphanage and give over the money they raised. I’m not surprised almost everyone missed the little sign. It’s kind of unfair to have them turn up at the mat and then say, “Surprise! There was a secret clue you forgot to follow! Penalty!”
Agreed about the brother-sister team, who are deeply annoying and can’t get over their own egos. For once, there seems to be no male/female team where the guy is emotionally abusive and the woman is a doormat. Just a couple of male/female dating teams where the guy is ambiguously gay.October 3, 2011 at 4:40 pm #229104
I don’t really see that it’s “unfair” to have the clue about leaving their money. It’s not like some teams had the advantage of seeing it while others didn’t. Everyone had a fair shot at seeing it and doing it. Just because a ton of teams missed it doesn’t mean it’s unfair. It actually really didn’t change the order that much.
I’m shocked that Ethan and Jenna are gone. Ethan is still hot.October 4, 2011 at 12:49 am #229105
This show is not really good TV anymore, I don’t care how many Emmys it was won or how many it will win in the future.
There’s no sense of competition anymore. The show is past its prime. Even Phil’s eyebrows are a little lazy this season. (I wanted meltdowns about the money issue!)
Eight teams missed that sign about giving all their money. They were all morons for not reading that sign. It might not have had the Amazing Race colors on it, but it was framed and on the table…they were literally handing over cash to orphans, but most didn’t bother to glance at what was right in front of their faces. (And the multiple flashes to said sign was hilarious)
Sure, it’s a stupid way for people to be eliminated, but I approve.October 30, 2011 at 6:44 pm #229106
I have to disagree with Katie. The sense of competition is very much still there. And this series still on fire, IMO.
Anyway, anyone else getting really annoyed with Laurence and Zac? How many times will be hammer in that women are suppose to sew while men carry heavy tabacco stacks?
The funniest image this episode for me was when Cindy was trapped under the bed and both she and Ernie couldn’t stop laughing. There are way too many non-elimination legs this season, I wonder if that will change the typical format of NEL at the 3rd to last leg.November 6, 2011 at 7:35 pm #229107
Not sure why, but I’m starting to really not like Andy & Tommy…. and Laurence (not so much Zac) is starting to play like a villain this season. Thoughts?November 20, 2011 at 8:50 pm #229108
This might be my favorite challenge ever. Bill and Cathi look amazing (in general – not even for their age), and the surfers….wowNovember 20, 2011 at 10:43 pm #229109
some of the bodies were nice (and I wished Zac hadn’t been eliminated), but I cringed through the whole scene to be honest
they clearly cast this year so they could all handle it, I guessNovember 20, 2011 at 10:48 pm #229110
Cathi made me laugh with her, “My kids are going to die…I’m going to die…it’ll be a family death.”November 22, 2011 at 8:00 pm #229111
Really fun episode. One of the best of the season. I really like Amani and Marcus, but man, they ain’t that smart. But him in that speedo. Wow.
Glad that Laurence and Zac are gone. Laurence was an arrogant jerk.November 23, 2011 at 7:49 am #229112
Hated that it was another NEL. But I guess that means the rest of the season, at least one team will be chopped off. I think I would’ve DIED if I had to do that challenge. At least I got to see my season crush, Ernie, in ‘nana hammock.
