Saw a new (excellent) trailer come out today, so I figured it’s worth making a thread on this upcoming season. Here’s the link:
Really excited and hoping it can get some awards attention. Urban, Moriarty, and especially Starr all would be deserving nominees this year, and I’m hoping that they can get in if the race is emptier next time around.

Given the reception of S1, Homecoming underperforming with critics & that a release date was announced nearly 2.5 months prior. I imagine this is likely Amazon’s #1 priority (for drama anyway) for the upcoming season. At least at the winter awards anyway.

I agree, what we’re seeing (close to the winter awards, not dropping all episodes at once, lots of publicity) shows that Amazon is rightfully pushing hard for this show. If it’s like last time, the quality is there, so maybe it can happen now.

ReplyCopy URLSeptember 5, 2020 at 12:54 pm #1203688123I enjoyed a lot the first three episodes, although I don’t think they all needed 60 minutes of runtime. From this great cast, honorable mention to Antony Starr, Karen Fukuhara, Aya Cash and Giancarlo Esposito.
I would be very happy if The Boys gets remembered at the Emmy 2021. After the nomination of The Mandalorian, I dare to hope.
ReplyCopy URLSeptember 5, 2020 at 1:02 pm #1203688139I don’t even watch this show but I think if Amazon are clever they’ll push this show and with Killing Eve and Saul on a break and Succession and Ozark potentially missing this can get in at the Emmys in Series.
I have a feeling Utopia will get skunked outside of maybe Sasha Stone at the Emmys. The original source material is too controversial to be awarded in this climate. If Amazon are clever they’ll prioritise The Boys.

September 5, 2020 at 1:03 pm #1203688143I’m actually tempted to start this because it looks way better than most superhero type shows.

oh you should. Season 1 is excellent. And season 2 so far has strong start
ReplyCopy URLSeptember 5, 2020 at 6:44 pm #1203688540This show is so much fun! Great start to season 2.
I’m seeing a lot of frustration online regarding the weekly release schedule, but honestly I feel like it’s a smarter choice. This show is known for some truly WTF moments, and it’ll be nice to let those marinate a bit and get people invested in a shared discussion etc.
IDK, I binged the first season straight through and then later went back to watch some reaction videos etc. can’t help but feel that getting to share those WTF moments week by week can only generate more buzz and excitement for the show.

This is so happening at the Emmys like The Mandalorian and What We Do in the Shadows this year.

September 9, 2020 at 6:42 am #1203694644Finally got to see the first three episodes and it’s brilliant just as I expected. Antony Starr continues to be incredibly good at being creepy and terrifying.
ReplyCopy URLSeptember 9, 2020 at 7:03 am #1203694677The show continues to be great. Antony Starr is a villainous delight, and I personally was very impressed by what I’ve seen from Chace Crawford and Karen Fukuhara. I’m also happy to see Giancarlo Esposito and Laila Robbins getting much more to do, and Aya Cash is making for a strong addition. Looking forward to more.

It got off to a wonky start with some out-of-character moments in the first couple of episodes, but everything came together in the 3rd episode and now I can’t wait to find out what happens next. Somehow they made a villain even more despicable than Homelander with Stormfront, and I can’t wait to see who kills her first.
With this show and the early seasons of Cobra Kai getting so much attention now, I wouldn’t be surprised if The Boys Season 2, Cobra Kai Season 3, and The Mandalorian Season 2 all made it into Best Drama next year. That would be a fantastic lineup!
