Totally misssd the season premiere last night. Airing Tuesdays @ 8 PM ET on ABC.

Episode Title: “Preemies, Weed, & Infidelity”

Synopsis: In the wake of Emilio’s deportation, Jackie steps into the role of a paternal figure and creates a birth plan for Becky; Darlene is tangled in a complex love triangle with David and Ben; Harris is caught up in a problem of her own.

I liked the premiere. Nice to see the ensemble come together for Becky’s baby birth. Particularly funny here were Laurie Metcalf and Estelle Parsons. So much family history here too with Darlene and Dan’s fight about his role (or non-role) in her childhood way back when. It’s interesting to have Darlene in this love triangle between Ben and David. I hope this doesn’t mean that Jay R. Ferguson’s time on the series is coming to the end. On the other hand, where was Johnny Galecki? It’s not like he’s busy anymore lol. The C-storyline with Harris, meh. It’s odd how flat Emma Kennedy is on here and how opposite she is on “Shameless.” Maybe it’s the restrictions of network television, or this is just a paycheck job for her. Either way, glad to have the show back for a new season!

My favorite scene was when Jackie and Darlene were “looking” for Harris’s earring in the couch cushions. Laugh out loud funny stuff there. I also liked the scene between Dan and Darlene, but I hate the triangle storyline. It gave Darlene a bad look, imo. Anyway, love this cast and glad to have them back. A-

Strong start to the season. I’m liking just about every storyline, especially Darlene’s love triangle woes and Jackie’s meddling. I hope they don’t dispose of Jay R. Ferguson. He was one of the few highlights of last season. But Johnny Galecki was far more prominent here, has the show’s history on his side, and is available to be a series regular now. The Mark storyline was the weakest. The actor playing him isn’t good and can’t really carry dramatic scenes well. Luckily, Sara Gilbert is there to help carry him along in their scenes together. Rooting for Becky to succeed in motherhood as well, but with the role model she had, that remains to be seen lol.

I’ve always enjoyed the “Roseanne” Halloween episodes. The title says this might have an Halloween spin, but the synopsis says no. I hope it does.

It’s most certainly the Halloween episode. Darlene dresses up as Becky “pre-baby” in her Mexican waitress outfit in the previews.
