I’m excited for season 2. The trailer looks exquisite as usual. I’m going to miss John Lithgow though.
yea i wish they would have given him a funeral and made it feel more like he was gone.. he was great and it will be different tone wise.
Interesting you say this because I’ve noticed that EW says this upcoming season covers 1956-64. Churchill died in 1965 so maybe they are planning to bring Lithgow back for the opening of Season 3 to aid the transition to whomever next plays the Queen.

August 10, 2017 at 9:44 am #1202181191Is it confirmed that Lithgow will not be back at all? Not even in a guest role for one quick scene? I saw him in the teaser but it looked like old footage.

August 10, 2017 at 10:02 am #1202181212To be honest, until I saw this trailer I really wasn’t considering the possibility that Foy could win next year without doing so this year. Now I am. She looks incredible.

August 10, 2017 at 10:06 am #1202181216I’m gonna be so upset when she loses that Emmy in September. This performance cannot leave small screen Emmyless. It’s either this year or never.

August 10, 2017 at 10:11 am #1202181220I know I’m biased because I need Moss to win, even though I do like but not love Foy, but I seriously doubt she can win next season. Let’s imagine Moss wins this year. She’ll be back wanting another. And sure it’s Foy’s last season but it’s also Maslanay and Russel’s last season. And on top of that we have newcomers in Maggie Gyllanahall and AMY freaking ADAMS. And if I can name them all this early there are sure to be more contenders that I didn’t even think to mention. And let’s say Foy does shock us by winning this year. They have multiple overdue queens they’d have to award as well. It’s going to be a legendary lineup next year. I can’t wait.

August 10, 2017 at 10:26 am #1202181224Exactly. Next year Foy can only count on nomination, winning is out of the question. I don’t worry about Lizzie because she’s becoming an Emmy winner either this year or next (for Top of the Lake).

As someone who is pretty confident that Moss will win this year, I am having a lot of trouble coming to terms with the fact that either Russell or Foy will be Emmyless for their roles.

I agree that there’s no reason to believe that Foy can’t win next year but I disagree that Adams’ show will flop as hard as Gypsy. The pedigree behind the show is far higher – based on a popular novel from an acclaimed author who has a proven track record for her adaptations being hits (Gone Girl), Jean Marc-Valee directing all 8 episodes who recently had a massive hit adapting another popular novel for HBO starring Oscar caliber actresses, etc. etc. All that said, I am fairly certain this will run as a limited series not drama.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 10, 2017 at 11:37 am #1202181277Foy can still win next year, I don’t really see Russell ever winning. Moss might win again, but I think Handmaid’s Tale has a much bigger chance of have a bad 2nd season than the Crown does. It’s still weird to me thinking that sharp objects will even compete in drama series, is Amy Adams really about to be committing to a multiple season show? Maslany probably won’t win again either.

I hope it is Foy who will end up Emmy-less because in terms of US success she might count as a recent discovery who will have a bright future but I don’t see Keri Russell ever becoming an awards player again, after The Americans ends so she should end with a bang. That being said I think Maslany will easily win next year.
