Now Philip is the only role still up in the air. I’m going to predict Bill Nighy, but seeing as he is 25 years older than Colman, Benedict Cumberbatch, who is only two years younger than Colman, could pull it off, although he would make a better Snowden.January 5, 2018 at 2:31 pm #1202457202
My dream for Phillip at this point would be Ralph Fiennes. He’s the right age and he doesn’t look too dissimilar to him. I’d imagine we get someone slightly more unknown though than HBC.
FYC Gold Derby TV Awards: Michelle Dockery - Movie/Limited Series Actress. Claire Foy - Performer of the Year.January 17, 2018 at 8:54 pm #1202469798
After finally watching it all the way through (I took A break halfway to watch like 50 movies), Foy has proved she’s giving the best female performance on television right now.
Kirby should be an Emmy nominee, especially with this season. She also gave a performance that usually wins a Globe but she never got nominated, which is weird.
The one disappointment was Michael C. Hall. He was very miscast and I was wondering why he was chosen and given nothing. Jodi Balfour was great as Jackie and would be a worthy Emmy nominee if this gains more momentum.

I didn’t find this season quite as satisfying or exciting as the first but still, good stuff. Foy was dead-on brilliant, as was Smith. I actually wasn’t as enamored with Kirby here as I was the first time around. Harris and Atkins were sorely missed. Hall was indeed dreadful and distracting.
Will Lithgow be eligible in Guest Actor for his one-minute appearance?

@AndrewCarden It will be a tragedy if Claire Foy doesn’t win an Emmy for this show. She’s magnificent.January 19, 2018 at 6:09 am #1202470737
Fantastic choice!January 19, 2018 at 7:15 am #1202470786
I love this. They are getting high profile stars now.January 19, 2018 at 11:17 am #1202471023
Love that choice!January 19, 2018 at 12:06 pm #1202471075
Paul Bettany? Wow! This is going to be an entirely different series moving forward.
Through episode 8 and will finish the last 2 episodes soon. Michael C. Hall was glaringly bad and miscast as JFK. I’m baffled at both the choice to start with and everyone involved leaving the shoots saying “nailed it!”January 19, 2018 at 12:19 pm #1202471092
I don’t think it’s confirmed. No major US websites has reported it.January 20, 2018 at 10:57 am #1202471916
Finished the season finally. I thought it was great. Claire Foy fucking killed this. As did Vanessa Kirby with the little screentime they gave her.
Of course we haven’t seen Moss or the new possible contenders, but it would be awful for Foy to loose that Emmy this year. It’s such an amazing performance. Moss and the others can win next year.
As for the new casting choices, I don’t know. Everybody is so much different than the current actors and I still don’t understand why the recasting is necessary. These actors can pull off 10 more years of their characters with the right makeup. If whatever little makeup budget This is Us has can make Mandy Moore (sort of) work, then this show’s huge budget can too and kill it.
Of course from an acting side, it should be great, I just don’t know how to feel about how different the show will look while it keeps the same storyline and characters. Can’t wait though.January 21, 2018 at 7:55 pm #1202473669
Congratulations to Claire Foy for her SAG win! I hope she gets the Emmy.
