Such a stunt casting though. The younger actress for Margaret made it more glaring.

    Stunt casting? That’s ridiculous.

O’Connor is officially guest eligible, so is Charles Dance. I am guessing they’ll still submit O’Connor in supporting. It’s slightly amusing that apart from Colman and Menzies, Bailey is the only one to appear in all 10 episodes. Doherty was surprisingly in more than half the season.

Here’s the number of episodes all major cast members appear in:

    Olivia Colman (10)

    Tobias Menzies (10)

    Marion Bailey (10)

    Helena Bonham Carter (8)

    Ben Daniels (8)

    Jason Watkins (7)

    Erin Doherty (6)

    Josh O’Connor (4)

    Charles Dance (4)

Josh O’Connor is brilliant in episode 6.

I could see O’Connor going supporting, leaving room for Dance and Lithgow in guest.

I assume that they push him supporting, but it is not outside the realm of possibility that they submit him as a guest, seeing as they got Mahershala Ali and Molly Parker nominated as such, despite having fourth and fifth billing in the relevant season out of the huge House of Cards ensemble—and they already had multiple Oscar nominees pushed in guest actress, without anyone in supporting actress really.

I haven’t started the season yet, but hearing that John Lithgow appears just made me ten times more excited!!

Oscar FYC - Lupita Nyong'o & Elisabeth Moss ("Us") - Best Actress & Supporting Actress. It must happen; otherwise the Tethered are coming.

He’s in it for like 2 minutes.

Pfft, of course it is! The Crown has always been very meticulous in its casting (look at the likeness between the young Princess Margaret and Vanessa Kirby), except in this case. Bonham Carter doesn’t look like either the real Princess Margaret or Kirby. At all. She’s much shorter, has a broader face, different eyecolor and so on. Moreover, she never auditioned so we can rule out the show overlooking physical similarity in favor of a towering performance. HBC didn’t accept the role immediately when it was offered, which means she hadn’t shown interest in the role beforehand which could have prompted her casting. This decision was entirely that of the producers and the casting director(s). It’s not like she has ever been an obvious choice as Margaret. Her popularity and stature remain clearly the most important factors in her casting despite so not looking the part.

All the evidence is right there. Ignore it if you want but it doesn’t change the truth.

    That’s enough for me, haha.

She is doesn’t need to audition for the role, are you insane, she’s fucking HBC. Also, if you have read interviews with HBC she has said that they were considering someone else for the role.

Olivia Colman doesn’t look like Claire Foy and doesn’t have the same eye color either.

It’s called acting. John Lithgow is is almost a foot taller than Churchill. Matt Smith looks nothing like Prince Philip.

You just sound like a bitter betty.

I know that. I was just making a point using the idea of an audition to prove my stand. Read it again I suggest.

Also, if you have read interviews with HBC she has said that they were considering someone else for the role.

Ever heard of a back-up option? Geez.

All of them bear some level of resemblance though, which was my actual point, which you are very casually ignoring or missed Idk.

You just sound like a bitter betty.

Seriously? We’re acting like a child now who has to resort to name calling to feel better? Ok then.

After seeing a couple of episodes I don’t think Olivia Colman is that undeniable. HBC however is magnificent and I’m ready for her sweep.

I feel fine, thanks for asking.

I think you need to reread what you wrote because you brought up that she didn’t audition, so her lack of physical appearance wasn’t beaten by a towering performance. She’s been doing towering performances for years.

Matt Smith and John Lithgow look nothing like their roles.

If you don’t like HBC, that’s fine but please dont pretend your opinion is more important than anyone else’s.

    Have a wonderful day Betty.

My bad that I came across as concerned whatsoever about how you felt. Not my intention.

And that negates my point? Btw I agree about the last line.

Matt Smith and John Lithgow look nothing like their roles.

They could be these people reincarnated compared to HBC though.

If you don’t like HBC, that’s fine but please dont pretend your opinion is more important than anyone else’s.

Weren’t you the one that came after my post? The hypocrisy my God. And give me one example where I’ve insulted/hated on HBC? I actually like her on the contrary. Just don’t accept anything and everything blindly like you stans.

    Have a wonderful day Betty.
