Also, Jane Lapotaire should be submitted for guest for Episode 4. She was great. I had no idea the history of her character

    Totally agree. She was amazing.

While the first two seasons were about Foy, these one has narratives for many characters which makes Colman less present

This isn’t true though. Foy had many episodes where you couldn’t even argue she was the lead. Like Wolferton Splash, Pride & Joy, A Company of Men, Beryl, Paterfamilias etc. Colman, I imagine, is in the same situation but let’s not pretend like the first two seasons didn’t also share things out amongst the ensemble.

Why O’Connor wasn’t in the documentary episode?

While Olivia is not in the entire episode, I do think that Aberfan is enough to give her a win. Her performance is subtle but outstanding, and it’s one of the best episodes in the entire series.

Colman is killing it. Not sold on an HBC sweep, as we all know how fickle those Emmy voters can be. But three episodes in, Colman has her episode.

Well, we have the first controversy: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7693531/The-Crown-leaves-viewers-furious-Queen-shown-faking-tears-Aberfan-coal-tip-tragedy.html

Wow the comments are really hating on the new season of the show and Colman. I’m also shocked when she said that she pretended to cry tbh, but I think the ending really established how much devastated she was.

As if the show didn’t have historical inaccuracies before smh

Just finished ep 9 and think I’ve gotten more used to her disappearing for most of the episode and then waltzing in for 5 minutes and delivering an increasingly colder Queen especially after Coup when she finally realises she has to kill any remaining part of her that fantasizes an alternative life: her ruthlessness to Charles to prepare him for the same, her dressing down of Mountbatten, her fury at Heath…there is a subtle arc she creates from the insecurities earlier in the season (losing a father figure in Churchill and her sister’s success), but she’s so STILL by ep 9 (and all the comic shades have been stamped out) – seems like it functions as a setup for the faceoffs with Thatcher and Diana next season.

Nah DM and the comments have been hating her since she won her Oscar, classifies her as a luvvie like Emma Thompson.

I’ll catch up on the show this week.

Sooo, did Olivia invent acting or was it just ok?

She’s delivering as much as anyone actor could playing that character.

^It was fine. She was fine. She’s not undeniable for the Emmy, but she ofc wouldn’t make a bad winner.

Yeah this. She would be a great winner but she didn’t do much more than her competition. We can hardly say she is better in episode 3 than Nicole Kidman during the trial scenes (I’m not talking about the ones with Streep, but the ones in which Celeste basically gets slut shamed).
