oh, “limited” series night manager’s coming back? shocking.

will hugh finally get that emmy? maybe this show can win just for its male actors.

It’s DailyMail after all, so I won’t get my hopes up and instead wait for an official statement. I got excited about Paul Bettany and it didn’t work out. Laurie would perfectly fit. Being in a scene together with Coleman is just fantastic. If this happens, Netflix better campaign harder for the third season.

Umm… DailyMail was the first one to loop us in about Bettany. It’s not their fault Bettany, like he always does, passed on it.

But no one else is reporting. I’d rather wait.

So Matt Smith was paid more than Claire Foy.  It reminds me of when Jane Lynch (a more famous supporting actress) was paid more than Matthew Morrison (a less famous lead actor) for Glee.  I would not be surprised if John Lithgow was paid more than both Foy and Smith.  But since they were all cast, the optics of this kind of thing have become very bad.  Robin Wright demanded “equal” pay to Kevin Spacey, even though she was a borderline supporting player the first few seasons and thus ended up making more than him per minute/hour.  This case is a bit more offensive in light of how she really is “the crown”.  If she did not start that way, she became the acting draw and was decorated with awards accordingly.

I guess it’s somewhat understandable for the first season to pay Smith more because of his name, but from what I’ve understand, she was paid the same for the second season. And that’s a shame.

If you’re bigger draw then you should be paid more even if you’re not playong leading role. That’s how business works and should work. If you get more famous and get more awards then you deserve raise. People have to understand, you have to earn it not just be given.

Yeah I agree with above, it’s fairly if not completely understandable that Smith might get more as a relatively big name but after Foy got nominated everywhere and won the Globe and SAG something should have changed regardless of whether it had already been signed off upon. I love how the producers have promised it won’t happen with Colman like they’ve learnt their lesson when actually it’s just that Colman is a Globe and BAFTA winner prior to her casting so has ‘earned’ the higher fee. Bet you anything Bonham Carter will be paid the most (like Lithgow probably was) but nothing will be said about that because it’s not seen as relevant to the gender parity argument.

Shameful. Poor Claire. At least Colman won’t have to go through this nonsense.

Can’t say I’m disappointed even if I enjoyed the possibility of Laurie. Menzies should have already won for Outlander so glad this will put him in contention. Guess we know why the new Elizabeth will be paid more than the new Phillip this time round at any rate…

Laurie seemed too old to me, Menzies is a great choice.

Awesome choice. Way better than Paul. Tobias is such an amazing actor.
