Well maybe not bigger than Oh that was a mistake. I apologise. But it’s still quite a strong narrative and far stronger than Brian Cox’s.

No need to apologise. It’s an internet forum. Nothing serious.

But the thing is that, especially in the last few years, the Emmys don’t seem to care that much about overdue narratives, so I think it will all depend on how the public discourse starts to form around the performances, and I see that more easily favouring the actress playing Diana (also for sympathetic reasons)

However, I also sense that if someone else comes in the spring with a strong performance, it can easily take that spotlight and none of them will win

Also, Anderson’s not overdue as she already has an Emmy. Her win was a long time ago, but I still don’t think overdue are the right words in this scenario.

Agreed not overdue- I was going to say maybe a “comeback” narrative instead of “overdue,” because she hasn’t fully been in the awards conversation for some time, but she has been delivering consistent and impressive work since The X-Files so not sure if that narrative works either. Regardless, I really do hope she’s fully in the conversation for this and I can’t wait to see her performance. All of the clips so far I’ve seen have been a total transformation, and most reviews seem to be really positive even if some people find it divisive.

Behind the scenes featurette: Creating The Crown Season 4

That last scene with Emma Corrin! I bet that’s the last scene of the season, paralleling S2.

Gillian Anderson and Olivia Colman on Stephen Colbert.

I guess this will be the final teaser. Can’t wait to see Gillian and Emma serve.

Looks like they managed to fix the problem with the bus!

The resemblance between Debicki and Corrin…

…I mean obviously we have to wait and see if Debicki can deliver a good performance as we’ve heard Corrin is PHENOMENAL according to the reviews but the resemblance I-

Listening to bloggers Tom & Lorenzo’s weekly podcast, and they just compared Corrin’s performance to Foy’s in seasons one and two (as a compliment, of course).

They also give more thoughts on the season and slightly expand upon the review they posted earlier this week.

This is why I am so confused as to what happens with Corrin at the Globes.

She seems to have the most undeniable performance on the show since Foy (which is why I feel sorry for Debicki because Corrin seems like she may give the definitive performance of Diana like Foy did of the Queen) although the thing is Claire Foy was a fairly well known rising television actress who had lead roles on British television and co-led a Golden Globe winning limited series. Corrin is a complete unknown and this is her first regular role on television after a recurring role on a DC prequel.

I’m not worried for Debicki, mainly because the Diana from 16 – 28 is nothing like the Diana of 28 – 36. Corrin couldn’t play Diana in season 5 imo, in the same way Debicki couldn’t play Diana of season 4. They’re completely different beasts. I actually think Debicki will have an advantage that Olivia and HBC haven’t had in taking over from Claire and Vanessa. We’ve got a long wait to find out though!

Also I watched the latest teaser that was posted in here yesterday and it’s brilliant. Whoever edits the trailers for The Crown deserves a raise. The use of the poem Thatcher is reciting to QEII is just !!!! Haunting.

Absolutely. The trailers for The Crown season 4 all deserve Emmys lol.

Easily Netflix’s best trailers for any film or television programme ever.

On a separate note I think it’s looking very clear that Anderson, Colman, Corrin and O’Connor are being promoted as “the faces of this season” and I expect that they get nominated at the winter awards (and perhaps are the only four actors from the show who get nominated at the winter awards).

So some more cast members have been announced.

Tom Burke will play Dazzle Jennings (a charismatic and eccentric man who left the Civil Service to train as a Catholic priest whose storyline centres around a friendship with Princess Margaret.)

Nicholas Farrell will play Michael Shea.

Richard Roxburgh (the Duke in Moulin Rouge) will play the Australian PM Bob Hawke during Di and Charles’s tour.

Paul Jesson will play Geoffrey Howe who resigned in 1990 from Thatcher’s cabinet causing her to suffer a big political crisis (trying not to spoil it for people).

Daniel Donskoy will play James Hewitt who had an affair Lady Di in 1986.

Andrew Buchan (Andrew-Parker Bowles), Harry Treadaway (Prince Margaret’s boyfriend) and Nancy Carell (Princess Margaret’s socialite friend) will also return to reprise their roles from season 3.

I think this is a great point. Diana really grew and changed during her last decade, and that’s actually a point of discussion in the podcast I referenced above.
