TV Guide named TGP #1 on its list of the 100 Best TV Shows Right Now:
“The Good Place boasts plot twists to rival Lost (except they all make sense), clever philosophical discourse and gut-busting laughter, all wrapped up in a neat half-hour package. But none of those things are what makes the show so great. Ultimately, The Good Place is about true friendship, and all the places that love and the support of your community can take you. And with Bell, Danson, and the rest of the show’s stellar cast, it’s a journey well worth taking.”September 12, 2018 at 5:15 am #1202630136
First 4 minutes of episode 1 released officially online (as per the youtube clip above, but decent quality!). This clip features the utter genius of the close-up eye opening shots of all 4 humans, but setting it to the famous Lost music – the screechy strings opener. I know Mike Schur has been totally open about how influenced by the ideas of Lost he was when developing The Good Place, but this is perhaps the most overt nod yet! Actual use of the Lost music!
Still, awesome clip, and Ted Danson is just amazing, even in just a few minutes of screen time. Also loved seeing Mike O’Malley – perfect casting!

Nice words from the Decider website (slightly spoiler-y):
If You Only Watch One Network TV Show This Year, Make it ‘The Good Place’September 24, 2018 at 9:23 pm #1202640825
And Salon has a sneak peek, too: https://www.salon.com/2018/09/22/smart-watch-from-murphy-brown-to-the-good-place-stick-with-tv-you-know/
“One hopes that the average person missed this lovable, smart, bright comedy as much as TV critics did while it was off the air. Michael Schur’s quirky examination of philosophy and morality deserves a broader audience, if only because we all deserve to feel better, and that’s medicine this series delivers.
“Kristen Bell’s and Ted Danson’s performances are credited as the backbone of the show’s humor. But in these new episodes “The Good Place” proves its worth as a true ensemble piece — particularly in the hour-long season premiere: We meet the gang back on Earth, a do-over Danson’s afterlife architect Michael has designed as an experiment to see if they can, indeed, become better people.
“And in this hour the best scenes belong not to Bell but to Manny Jacinto, Jameela Jamil and William Jackson Harper, all at their bumbling best as they attempt to figure out how to improve themselves as humans without knowing that their eternal souls hang in the balance.”September 25, 2018 at 7:13 pm #1202641357
Season 3 review: New Surprises Make NBC’s Best Show Even Better (Spoiler-Free):September 26, 2018 at 7:41 pm #1202641977
2018 Television Critics Association winner, Comedy Program of the Year. 2018 Hugo Award winner, Dramatic Presentation – Short Form. The best, true ‘marvelous’ comedy on TV is back to educate Mrs. Palladino and Ms. Brosnahan on how it’s done RIGHT.
Episodes 3.1 and 3.2: Everything is Bonzer! (season premiere)
Part 1 written by Michael Schur and Jen Statsky; Part 2 written by Statsky; directed by Dean Holland
Judge Gen and Michael have decided Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani and Jason will be out and out resurrected to continue the lives they led before each died. Can they apply how much they improved in the Bad Place, even with memories of their time in it completely erased, back on Earth where their imperfect characteristics defined them?September 26, 2018 at 8:36 pm #1202642008
Film School Rejects: ‘The Good Place’ Season 3 Is Sweet, Sincere, and Forking HilariousSeptember 27, 2018 at 12:08 pm #1202642484
I can’t wait to watch the premiere. This show is shaping up to become a decade best. Right now I think only Atlanta is a superior comedy, at least between the shows I watch.September 27, 2018 at 6:47 pm #1202642596
Dear everyone on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,
THAT’S how you a)kick off a season, and b)do comedy spectacularly right.
