TV Line’s Performer of the Week: Like you thought it would be anyone else BUT D’Arcy Carden?
“What’s the only thing better than Carden’s sublimely silly performance as The Good Place‘s digital know-it-all Janet? How about SIX Janets?”December 8, 2018 at 10:40 am #1202694378
Looks like Henry Winkler and Lin-Manuel Miranda were fans of last episodeDecember 8, 2018 at 11:03 am #1202694402
After nominating eight performers in the category this year, it will be outrageous if they snub Carden.December 8, 2018 at 11:40 am #1202694431
And once Carden is nominated, I hope Dan Harris and Allyson Jones join her. Those two are the casting directors of the show, and they have performed miracles not only in the casting the main players but also the guest stars. Genius moves bringing Marc Evan Jackson, Maya Rudolph, Michael McKean and the UK ‘The Office’ creator Stephen Merchant on Thursday’s terrific episode. The mark of a great show is that you can’t envision anyone else playing these characters except the ones you see. Brilliance.December 8, 2018 at 12:22 pm #1202694476
Wow. First-time Golden Globe and WGA noms? If it can hit SAG, I think The Good Place is gonna FINALLY be the big Emmy contender it always should have been. I sense an Americans-like rise with this one…December 8, 2018 at 10:22 pm #1202694854
How’d I miss this news? Congrats to the people who made The Good Place: The Podcast, Marc Evan Jackson, Lizzy Pace, Grant Rutter and Trae Budde crack the top 10 of Entertainment Weekly’s Best Podcasts of 2018 (#8):
This is a great time to be a Good Place fan, isn’t it? Golden Globe and Writers Guild love, possible SAG niceness Wednesday?
End of conversation. 🤣🤣December 30, 2018 at 9:01 pm #1202714511
And on the last day of 2018, news from the UK; The Good Place (which is seen on Netflix England) won the category of Best On Demand TV Show in the annual Radio Times Reader Awards poll: The RT has been a staple in English media since 1923.December 31, 2018 at 4:40 pm #1202715084

In 2018, TV greatness resided in one place. #TheGoodPlaceJanuary 4, 2019 at 8:34 am #1202718268
Last night, The Good Place was nominated for Best Comedy Series by the Dorian Awards, which represents the Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics. It was their lone mention.January 4, 2019 at 10:37 am #1202718401
And the good vibes continue; the show was just nominated for its first-ever Producers Guild of America award for Comedy Series.January 9, 2019 at 4:47 pm #1202728077
It was the best of hiatuses (Producers Guild, Writers Guild, American Cinema Editors and Art Directors Guild first-time nominations), it was the worst of hiatuses (Kristen Bell’s Golden Globe moment was spoiled as Rachel Brosnahan’s 2-season long reign of error/terror in winning Best Comedy Actress awards continued unabated, and who will host SNL, the first TV star in forever, when it comes back 1.19 – indignity heaped upon insult). Mostly, it was a hiatus that seemed like eternity.
But now, TV’s best comedy and its best lead actress (F the Globes and the Critics Choices this weekend) are BACK for the home stretch of a fantastic third season.
Episode 3.11: The Book of Dougs
Written by Kate Gersten; directed by Ken Whittingham
The Gang of Six have finally made it to The Good Place! A lonely, desolate place it is, for in over a half-millennia, zero people have been welcomed to it. Save a committee Michael finds himself in front of, trying to shake them into questioning why no one but they are there. Tahani struggles to help Janet and Jason as Chidi springs a surprise on a nervous Eleanor.January 10, 2019 at 7:15 pm #1202729519
Darcy Carden gives an undeniable performance. Everything she does is funny and believable. Her performance tonight was first time her character felt emotions or the ability to cry and she nailed it.
There have been undeniable supporting performances that have been consistently denied by the Emmy’s in prior comedies (Nick Offerman, Danny Pudi, Adam Pally, John Rothman to name a few) but I don’t think any have been as good as Darcy Carden. She is giving (I think) the best TV comedy performance I have ever seen.
I beg she goes places, and I beg this show never stops giving her material that shows her off.January 10, 2019 at 7:48 pm #1202729535
