Ann Dowd is so good in this show she manages to get better and better every season.

My God, Ann Dowd is so incredible. If she misses next year, I will be damned. And we haven’t even gotten to her backstory yet. The episode started out kind of meh-ish, but ended up being really amazing. That scene between Janine and Aunt Lydia made my skin crawl, and I loved how terrified the wives and Commanders were, too. Jeez, that was rough. I’m loving the June and Serena dynamic this season – they better not destroy that like last year. Alexis Bledel and Emily’s entire story are just heartbreakingly phenomenal. Clea DuVall deserves a guest nod.

At this point, it’s needless to say that Strahovski and Moss killed it. Oh, and the cinematography, my God. And the dialogue was ace in this episode. “Then move the point.” – brilliant.

I don’t like what they are doing with June and commander Fred, at all.

This show feels like a chore to watch, but Yvonne remains so fucking amazing.

As great as Lizzie is, Yvonne is probably the best actress in the show on a episodic basis. It’ll be a crime if she never wins an Emmy for this show.

The show really needs to cool it with the extreme close ups on Moss’s face, she’s obviously an accomplished actress but when it happens four times an episode it’s not powerful anymore.

Very interesting discussion. First of all, that room was totally in the mood, great! My respect for Moss grows with each passing day, and her cast mates seem to share that sentiment. I loved how honest Minghella is; Handmaid’s is always touted as a documentary, but as Minghella said, there’s a lot of melodrama in the way the show is shot and multiple scenes play out, like the burning of the Waterford house. But Handmaid’s has been a artsy show since its genesis, and is at the end of the day still entertainment.

Moss said how June is going to make more questionable, polarizing decisions, lol. I can already see the flood of complaints, haha. To me it sounded like Luke is going to die or something like that, which I’d really hate I must say.

This show is just straight up bad at this point. And before you come back at me for posting only negativity, this is probably gonna be my last post ’cause it’s getting tiresome for me too. The only good thing is Yvonne, she deserves to be the only THT actress nominated next year, if there’ll be room for only one. She should demand from the writers to partially write her off so she returns as guest and win a guest actress Emmy.

No, it is as good as a show can be, an incredible piece of art. And Elisabeth Moss said it very well, people that call the show “torture porn” should be ashamed of themselves, the show cannot be more real, it is a documentary of what is happening in MANY countries, it is still not happening in the West, but there are many people there who would like to see it happening. So how can you be horrified about the show, but not about the reality in which we are lining? So hypocritical.

No, it’s not about that at all. What irritates me is that in this case the Waterfords will for sure succeed and they’ll get the baby back and then the rest of the season is gonna be a rehash of S2, Serena will become a bitch again now that she’s happy with a baby like nothing ever happened, June will keep violating the rules in order to see Nicole, blah blah blah. Serena gave Nicole away to protect her, and now she’s forgotten about everything and wants her back? The plot goes forth and back, forth and back. I very much doubt they’re gonna go down another route. This show is gonna last 15 seasons at this pace and it’s gonna be recycled plot over and over again. If they wanted to show us life in Gilead, they should make a fiction documentary rather than a series. A series is supposed to have a plot and that plot a purpose, which this show seems to have forgotten.

All this is a negative comment about something that has not even happen yet and that may not happen at all. If you are correct, I would agree with you, but I think that you will be NOT. Also, the change in Serena was perfectly explained, her need and egoism to be a mother is stronger than her need to see Nichole actual happy, this is a typical behavior of many parent in many different situations.

    Her name is Holly

And spending on all that time on an anguished woman who enslave, raped and stole the kind she’s anguishing over is not compelling. There is no amount of acting that justifies portraying Serena Joy as legitimate mother figure for a child she raped into being. She wasn’t her’s to let go

    And stop with the closeups

I loved this episode… up until the final moment. This is the first time this season where I totally get what reviewers ment with going in circles. We had already established June as the genisis of the revolution, why do it again?

Cinematographer Colin Watkinson did a fantastic job directing. Yvonne Strahovski was divine.
