Season 3 of ‘Inside Amy Schumer’ debuted last night and it was amazing. The episode, titled ‘Last Fuckable Day’, featured the title sketch with guests Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tina Fey, and Patricia Arquette who are celebrating JLD’s last “fuckable” day before she’s past her prime. All of this, and it’s directed by Nicole Holofcener. The Sally Field reference was perfect.
Another stand out sketch was a ‘Friday Night Lights’ sketch proving that there is a hilarious and insightful way to tell a rape joke.
I’m glad this show has already been renewed for a 4th season.April 22, 2015 at 2:05 pm #347191
Did anyone else see the premiere?April 22, 2015 at 3:00 pm #347192
The ‘Last Fuckable Day’ sketch is hilarious. Amy’s gunning for that surprise Best Actress slot.April 22, 2015 at 3:37 pm #347193

If she was nominated for acting it would be for supporting as per the Academy’s rules, but I think the show could possibly for best writing in variety sketch series.April 22, 2015 at 3:57 pm #347194

That’s not the case anymore per new rules:

I binge-watched the first two seasons of “Inside Amy Schumer” two weeks ago and I’m falling in love with this woman. Last night’s episode was pitch perfect. Fully supporting any awards buzz for Amy! Last night was beyond.April 22, 2015 at 5:10 pm #347196
If trainwreck is a huge hit (which is extremely likely) I would not be surprised in the slightest to see her get a lead actress nominationApril 22, 2015 at 9:06 pm #347197
Living for this show! “The Last Fuckable Day” was everything! “Are you that girl that talks about her pussy all the time?” “Why, yes I am, thank you!” “Well come over and talk about your pussy over here!” As great as all of that was, I was doubling over at all of Amy Schumer’s Connie Britton-isms in that scandalous “Friday Night Lights” sketch! Is this what Josh Charles is doing now? I hope this is just side work. “You can’t bring a wet mule around a hot corn oven” lol waaat? And those wine glasses yassss! The stand-up scenes, the birth control one, and that so gross music video were all hilarious! I didn’t know of this show’s existence unitl now, so I have some catching up to do since this is the third season premiere.April 23, 2015 at 12:48 pm #347198
I am actually currently going out on a limb and prediciting her to sneak into the best actress category. I know it’s a long shot but for some reason I am just not getting the feeling that Grace and Frankie is going to hit very hard at the Emmys so with Tomlin/Fonda out that opens up a bit of space. Also, as much as I would love to see Kudrow get in again, The Comeback has basically zero buzz at this pointand will not have a third season to build awareness back up again. I just don’t see HBO backing a big campaign for her.
Amy’s awareness/buzz is on the rise – she was pretty much the main headline coming out of this weekend’s Time gala and she has a big Apatow movie coming out soon. By the time nominations roll around though, her show will be off the air but her buzz may be big enough to combat that. The show is already on the academy’s radar – they nominated it for writing when it was far less buzzed about last year. Also, the academy has shown that they are perfectly willing to reward sketch performers (Armisen just last year, lots of SNL people all over the map). Most importantly: Let’s not forget Sarah Silverman in 2009.
Anyone with me?April 23, 2015 at 1:07 pm #347199
YAS Queen Amy Schumer is everything right now. Season 3 premiere was on FIRE. I hope she gains awards traction ASAP.
Supporting or lead though?April 23, 2015 at 1:18 pm #347200
^ ^ ^ Lead. I think the precedent’s already been set for a possible Amy Schumer shockeroo in Lead Actress in a Comedy Series with Sarah Silverman’s nomination here a couple of years ago. It’s not quite the same thing, but they’re very much kindred spirits in tone and execution. And once “Trainwreck” hits, we should really watch out for Schumer (but I know before it’s said, nomination first . . .).April 23, 2015 at 2:56 pm #347201
I’m still binging but I watched the premiere and yeah what a great sketch. I’m not sure about the nom yet but it is possibleApril 23, 2015 at 3:38 pm #347202
I would really love for Schumer to crack the lineup. And the Broad City girls (but, yeah not happening).April 23, 2015 at 7:03 pm #347203
Sounds like I am the only person here, but I do not find her to be the end all and be all of things that she is made out to be. She certainly has her moments but I rountinely find that half her material falls flat and is simply not funny. I do admire her ability to tackle tough subjects in a funny way.
Maybe she will be the next Sarah Silverman, but I would like to wait a few years before crowning her the queen of comedy.
