I low-key can’t wait for it, although it doesn’t seem that funny, despite coming from Jordan Peele (& Tracy Morgan who I never found funny tbh).

This has an Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt vibe. I thought it would go unnoticed, but the trailer is kinda promising, so I guess it’s up to TBS to promote it good. They should learn something from last year’s NatGeo campaign.

Let’s hope so, Tiffany Haddish seems ok to decent, she’s like Amy Schumer, after breaking through this past year, she could easily pull a Comedy Supp Actress nom (I don’t think she’s lead even tho GoldDerby has her as such in the prediction center) although it’s a bit too crowded already in both Lead & Supp, but you never know.

Tiffany def seems supporting. She has third billing in the trailer and on wikipedia (after Morgan and Cedric the Entertainer)

That said it does not matter that TBS isn’t a big network at the emmys. The show certainly has the pedigree to compete.

Trailer was just okay. Hoping for the best for all involved. TBS doesn’t instill much confidence. Feels more in line and tone with a Netflix/Amazon show.

TBS also has a show called Search Party which should have swept last year. Its first season’s finale was simply perfection.

66 on MC, the reviews are raving Morgan and Haddish is getting good notices as well. They’re citing episode 5 which is a great showcase for her when her character visits her troubled past. I can’t wait for this!

If she goes supporting, she could easily get nominated a la Amy Schumer. I can’t see her getting in lead.

    What a pleasant surprise!!

Let’s start with Tracy Joran, wow! I was expecting more of his typical Schtick but he a gave a shockingly nuanced performance, that still had his trademark style. He might even be my personal favorite in the entire category.

Tiffany Haddish is definitely supporting. She didn’t have enough material for me to judge her yet. I actually didn’t love her line delivery, but I still enjoyed seeing such a different side to her, as well as seeing her switch between her new and old personas.

Cedric was funny with his limited screen time.

I hope this makes an impact at the Emmys. It is very funny and extremely accessible. It definitely has the prestige to get heads to peak in, but can it overcome the fact that it’s on TBS? At the very least, Tracy Morgan deserves a nomination.

the pilot was uneven, but charming in a weird way lol. i LOVED Tiffany Haddish in this. i think she really brought it even though she had limited screen time. Morgan was good, but i think Haddish really elevated his performance in that last scene – their chemistry is great. Haddish is definitely supporting and she should be in the conversation for a nom tbh.

Peele is so much better at subtle/dark comedy than blatant outburst of humor.

Does TBS have any Emmy history? Just scanning my memory I am coming up blank but could be wrong.

Conan, Samantha Bee, American Dad. It’s sister network, TNT, hasn’t done too bad in the past.

Besides Tracy Morgan, I found the premiere to be a little boring. I kept looking to see what time it was to see when it would be over. I’ll wtick around for a couple more episodes, but I need for them to give Haddish more to do than what she did last night. But Morgan is fantastic!
