It only seems inevitable that JLD add this to her awards mantle. As the female lead on all three of her comedy series plus making you laugh and cry in Enough Said, she’s earned her place to be a recipient of this (Have yet to watch that other 2002 sitcom, Watching Ellie, but I’ll get to it eventually). With that said, how does Betty White not already have this?

I don’t know why they had to award Ellen DeGeneres, Will Ferrell, and Tina Fey so early in their careers. They missed out on awarding all time comedy greats Sid Caesar and Phyllis Diller.

I like the suggestions above, and think that Louis C.K could be added to the list. He is just all over the place lately, is laugh-out-loud funny, and a recognizable enough name to get it. I don’t think that Woody Allen will win it, because what are the chances that he would actually show up? The speech is always memorable, and I would hate to have it not happen, even though he might deserve it.

So I’m rooting for some of them in particular (Betty White, Letterman, Dick van Dyke) but something tells me this is Letterman’s year. He is retiring so that might entice them to choose him. I still hope its Betty White though!

I’m hoping it’s Betty White. Her career in comedy is beyond impressive and she is still working at 92. Give the lady the damn award.

This is probably just me but whenever I think of how much she has done in her career I always think of one specific moment from the Golden Girls (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAbiZOfbURU). This is proabbly my favorte comedy moment on tv ever.

Very very funny moment. And the fact that the little girl ended up being Jenny Lewis from Rilo Kiley only makes it better.

I’m also surprised that Robin Williams and Betty White has not gotten one of this yet. I could see some of these others also getting it: David Letterman, Dick van Dyke, Mel Brooks. Chevy Chase, though was great in his prime, has just rubbed too many people off and besides Community, in the recent years, and some bright guest spots, not sure it’s enough to be given to him. Woody Allen is also a possible contender but yeah, knowing he will snubbed it, makes it unlikely that he will be nodded. And JDL, I think, though great should be reserved for later years. Looking at the list of recipients, I must admit that Tina Fey, Will Ferrell and Ellen DeGeneres, while all three are great, seems a little bit too early to be getting this award. So if they go back to dipping to those kind then JDL should definitely be the next one prob.
