Will start shooting on January 7 so I assume it misses Emmy eligibility.

    https://tvline.com/2020/10/04/marvelous-mrs-maisel-season-4-date-amazon-delay/

Am intrigued by this season. Interested to see what happens post the bombshell at the end of season 3 with Midge’s career and if we’re in for something new. Hopefully the show isn’t affected in its format too much by Covid and we get a better season this time round (I think what hurt season 3 was how manic Midge’s International Comedy tour was really).

Interested to see if the show can ever win Comedy Series again. It could be in with a shot for its final series at the very least like Mad Men was but considering how the show lost all the categories it was up against Schitt’s Creek in this year (as did every other Comedy Series nominee apart from Insecure) I wonder if season 4 ends up being on par with season 1 or 2 quality wise if it might have a chance at winning. In 2022 that is not 2021 considering how it looks like the show is keeping its Winter slot.

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", AMANDA SEYFRIED FOR "MANK", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

Season 1 and 2 were outstanding. I did not want to sleep. That is how good the first 2 seasons were. Season 3 was a let-down.

I hope season 4 is well written.

On a side note I wonder if Marin Hinkle can win one day. She’s practically the only core cast member (I’m excluding Zeagan) who hasn’t won yet and I actually hope she wins because her material on the show gets better and better each season.

I actually preferred her to Borstein in 2019 and it’s interesting to see Rose’s character development across the show. Perhaps THE character with the most significant evolution.

I loved Season 3, I thought the balance between comedy and drama was much stronger and I really grew to love the characters, especially Joel, who has come a long way since Season 1.

The drama elements of the show never truly clicked with me in seasons 1 and 2 but this time round, I was gripped and I still find myself thinking about that season 3 finale.

That season finale should have been ASP’s submission for Writing and Directing this year not “It’s Comedy or Cabbage” although “It’s Comedy or Cabbage” was still an excellent submission (honestly both episodes are some of the best of Maisel so far to me).

I actually think had we been under the tape system that Brosnahan would have easily won. Easily to me her best performance on the show to date. It’s kind of weird how voters feel dysmorphic around her performance but not around Borstein and Shalhoub’s when Brosnahan has 1 Emmy, 1 SAG award, 2 Critics Choice awards and 2 Golden Globes across her entire career when Borstein has 2 Emmys for Maisel and 3 altogether in the space of 3 years and Shalhoub has 4 Emmys in his career (one for Maisel) and 2 SAG awards for playing Abe. I do think Brosnahan can win for her final season though.

I do think the show skipping this Emmy cycle might help it if it delivers quality wise if it more or less is going up against Barry, Atlanta and Russian Doll in the next cycle and not The Great, Dead to Me and Insecure and the show’s main problem is that voters are tired of rewarding it year after year rather than rewarding it at all. The former three shows are also not doing themselves any favours if they are taking two (three in the case of Atlanta) years of a hiatus.

Will be interesting to see if Lynch and Sykes return for season 4 and if they’ll both be guest eligible. It’s kind of ironic how Lynch can’t get into Supporting Actress with her performance but is win competitive when she is Guest eligible.

I wonder if the stories will become even more loosely connected in S4? In S1 the whole show seemed very self contained, with every character’s individual plot revolving around Midge and her effect on their lives, but as the seasons went on every character started having his/her own entirely separate plotlines (that mostly haven’t gone anywhere yet)- Rose and Abe’s personal struggles, Susie’s family life and the Sophie Lennon stuff, Joel’s club and love life.

    rubbish

Wanda Sykes picking up her Emmy when she gets her own character focus this season lol.

In all seriousness I actually think the show might go back to a situation like it did in s1 where everything revolved around Midge writing wise and I actually think Brosnahan may get more material than ever this season. The finale kind of set it up like that imo.

I’ve loved every season, although Season 2 is the best in my opinion. Season 3 wasn’t a letdown, but was more disjointed than previous seasons. I hope the wait for Season 4 isn’t too long!

Luke Kirby coming for the Supporting Actor nomination?

    https://tvline.com/2020/10/08/marvelous-mrs-maisel-season-4-luke-kirby-lenny/

Would be interesting if he did get nominated in Supporting because I’d say he could either pose a potential vote split threat for Shalhoub, pose no threat to Shalhoub or even win over Shalhoub.

Honestly just give Luke Kirby all the awards he literally steals every scene he’s in! Hopefully this means they’ll be picking up the hanging thread at the end of Cabbage.

I mean…duh. That’s like saying that the outcome of a coin toss will be either heads or tails. It’s redundant.

Not when ATAS denied her a ridiculously easy Emmy win this year.

    I was being sarcastic.

Also how was it an easy win? Maya Rudolph also had an overdue narrative and was playing Kamala Harris. Maya was in Maisel for five seconds.

Well actually I said it because for him he would pose an interesting addition to the supporting actor race. It won’t be like with Brown or Zeagan hence why I said it.

If you want to be combattive the door out of the thread is that way.

Maybe use that door yourself if you’re gonna be unnecessarily offended by anything and everything. If I actually wanted to fight you or drag you I would have done it long ago considering the countless opportunities you always provide for the same.

The irony that you Couverture claim that “everyone is too sensitive on here” when you are the person who created a thread asking people to name and shame “which Goldderby members do they dislike” and have actively humiliated and bullied users on here.

    Anyway moving on.

I’m very interested to see what they do with location for this show. The changing locations have become a regular thing for it over the past two years but Covid nay hinder that so I wonder if the Palladinos will do what they did in Gilmore Girls : A Year in the Life and pretend for example that “this is Miami” or “this is Paris” when they’re actually in New York or if they’ll just set it in New York like the first season.

Amy Sherman-Palladino has said that her and Dan are rethinking when to end the show due to the pandemic but have confirmed that season 4 will not be the last.
