    Carmela Soporano

The fact that I had to wait this long for someone to mention her lol. She’s more iconic than pretty much every role mentioned outside of Dany and possibly Cersei.

Some of y’all really getting iconic confused with “my fav”. Know there isn’t a set definition of iconic (especially in entertainment) but to me the three standard barriers would be

    1) Is it career defining work / biggest part of their legacy?
    2) Are the recognisable as a Halloween character?
    3) Does the GP recognise the them only by name

The last one is interesting because TV characters on whole are typically more remembered / iconic than film.

Let’s look at SAG winners from the 2010s, how many people do you think would know what project Nina Sayers, Alice Howard, Abileen Clark, Jasmine Francis, Mia Dolan, Mildred Hayes, Joy Newsome, Joan Castleman & Tiffany Maxwell are from?

Especially compared to Alicia Florrick, Constance Langdon, The Dowager Countess, Annalise Keating & Eve Pollastri.

I can understand what people mean by saying people are running with their favourites but I have to feel a bit defensive of one of my picks here (even if I’m not included in the list of people picking their favourites). Diane Lockhart IS iconic. In fact she’s the definition of iconic.

    The laugh alone…

Sarah Michelle Gellar in Buffy is my all time favourite performance ever, but I think it is also one of the most iconic.

From that viewpoint, there are shows I dont watch where you cant deny how iconic the character/actor is. Edie Falco in The Sopranos, Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City, Jennifer Aniston in Friends, Candice Bergan in Murphy Brown etc.
