While most of the creative arts branches spread the wealth between Game of Thrones, Handmaid’s Tale, The Crown, and Westworld on the drama side and the editors will try to use this to show we have “close races”, with the wins of Samria Wiley and Ron Jones last night in guest, a portion of the performers branch has revealed itself to be solidly on the side of The Handmaids Tale and This is Us. This clear block voting for these 2 shows has me thinking if any other nominee not on these 2 shows can even win.

This is how the drama wins have been “spread out” including last nights winners.

    The Handmaid’s Tale (4)
    Elisabeth Moss- Best Actress
    Ann Dowd- Best Supporting Actress
    Alexis Bledel- Guest Actress (2017)
    Samira Wiley- Guest Actress (2018)

    This is Us (3)
    Sterling K. Brown- Best Actor
    Gerald McRaney- Guest Actor (2017)
Ron Cephas Jones- Guest Actor (2018)

    The Crown (1)
    John Lithgow- Best Supporting Actor

What a shame. It appears the block voting is so strong for Handmaid’s and This is Us that many outside the box frontrunners or spoilers may be doomed at the Emmys. This includes Matthew Rhys, David Harbour, Sandra Oh, Claire Foy, Keri Russell, Vanessa Kirby, Thandie Newton, etc. Are voters even aware other shows exist? They really can’t find any other show worthy? And Lithgow was such a frontrunner they really didnt have a choice.

It’s likely now that Elisabeth Moss and Sterling K Brown repeat. Ann Dowd repeats (or loses to co star Yvonne). As for supporting actor its possible they vote for THT nominee Fiennes or have Matt Smith replace John Lithgow as The Crown win. Or just give it to Dinkalage again because apparently the voters deem him to be the only actor for GOT worth recognizing.

They both won one acting Emmy this year so now they are going to win them all? The actors branch likes the shows I guess but using that as evidence is kind of thin.

The same performers branch that snubbed most of the This is Us cast in nominations is now completely “in the tank” for it?

Then why were Mandy Moore, Justin Hartley, Sylvester Stallone and previous nominee Chrissy Metz snubbed?

This does not make sense, especially about This is us. Also, there is no shame about these winners. THT is the best acted show on TV, there is no doubt about it, it will keep winning, because it deserves it. Here at GD, also won three acting awards including best cast ensamble.

I don’t mind too much that Moss is winning over Oh, Russell and Foy, but, my God, would it be a sad day for TV, to see Matthew Rhys losing to Sterling K. Brown.

I know it is all subjective, I understand these things happen all the time, but I would hate to see such powerhouse performance going without proper recognition.

I’ve yet to hear any convincing arguments against my initial argument. If Lead Actress, Actor, and Supporting Actress go to Handmaids and This is Us as is being predicted those 2 shows will have won 10 of the 12 Drama acting categories in the last 2 years. If they win Supporting Actor too, thats 11.

There is nothing normal about that. Suggests a portion of the performers branch is just checking off those 2 shows. Very bad.

Your “initial argument” was guessing that The Handmaid’s Tale and This Is Us would sweep the acting categories just because they won in Guest, completely shrugging off the quite relevant fact that This Is Us severely underperformed in acting nominations this year. Not even sure this can be called an “argument” to begin with.

The only nomination This is Us missed was Chrissy Metz.

Mandy Moore was never gonna get nominated up against those women. Her missing is not evidence it severely underperformed. All you need is like 18% of a branch to just vote in block for something once it’s nominated to pull it to wins everywhere as we saw last year. And Handmaid’s and This is Us is being pulled to wins…everywhere. Ya’ll have to be BLIND to doubt it at this point. Ya’ll said Diana Rigg HAD IT. No one even MENTIONED Ron Cephas Jones as a possibility! They even had the presence of mind to know Gerald won last year and skipped right to Ron.

I’m not the one predicting them to sweep next Monday. This site is. And if Moss, Sterling, and either Dowd or Yvonne win it’s 10 Drama acting wins for those 2 shows in 2 FRICKIN’ YEARS out of 12 categories.

THAT. IS. NOT. NORMAL. I’m just warning ya’ll in case people think Rhys or Foy or Oh or whoever have a chance. They sadly probably don’t.

    “tHaT IS nOt NorMaL!!!1!!!11!”

Like wtf? What kinda statement is that. Both THT and TIU feature some of the best acting on television and they are relatively new shows so of course voters are excited about them. I don’t get what is wrong with being the best/one of the best in the category and winning that said category.

Actually, I mentioned that Ron Cephas Jones could win as an I.O.U. from last year. I did not see Diana Rigg as a possibility of winning. Her moment was good, but not award winning in my opinion.
