    JUNE 19TH!

    From Entertainment Weekly:

College student Payton Hobart (Ben Platt) is ready for battle during the dramedy’s sophomore season, premiering on June 19. He’s got his heart set on unseating incumbent Senate Majority Leader Dede Standish (Judith Light) who is campaigning for a new term in the New York State Senate race. With Chief of Staff Hadassah Gold (Bette Midler) by her side, re-election was supposed to be easy, but as Payton figures out what type of politician he ultimately wants to be, it could lead him to expose secrets, lies, and a throuple.

Meanwhile, his mother, Georgina Hobart (Gwyneth Paltrow) makes a momentous decision that threatens to upstage him and everything he’s hoping to accomplish. But if Payton wants to rise above petty politics and succeed without compromising his character, he must find his voice and strengthen his political message to inspire and excite voters.

    Cannot wait.

I guess we’ll have TV in the summer after all! 13 Reasons Why, The Politician and Perry Mason! I’m probably the only one who still watches the first one though, haha.

Judith Light and Bette Midler are really going to deliver, aren’t they?

I’m very interested to see what capacities Zoey Deutch and Gwyneth Paltrow return in. The ending of season one suggested they wouldn’t be coming back, but obviously here they are. Notice how Deutch isn’t a part of Payton’s campaign team squad right under Ben Platt. If they aren’t big roles, they could end up being big contenders in guest (especially Paltrow).

Haha I watch 13 Reasons, even though it would have been best if they had left it as 1 season.

The Politician, well, dang that was problematic. The writing and plotting were a mess. The performances for the most part were fun, but the directing was bad because it seemed like the actors were in 5 or 6 different shows. I’m not sure I am on board for season 2, but if there’s nothing better, maybe.

Perry Mason, well, bless its heart.

It will be interesting to see if the summer airdate increases its chances of being nominated at the Emmys.

13RW S1 would’ve been an all timer of a miniseries.

I’ve invested too much in 13 Reasons to give up now at the final hurdle

Question for watchers of Season 1. I was not interested after reading the reviews. However, I did notice most reviews singled out the finale episode (with Midler and Light) as a standout episode that could chart a course for a much stronger series. So I’m interested in Season 2. Would I be able to start with the Season 1 finale and not be horribly lost to be ready for Season 2?
I know there are purists who will say “of course you miss out on x, y and z…”, and I often agree with that viewpoint. I’m wondering about an exception in this one case. 🙂

13RW S1 would’ve been an all timer of a miniseries.

It probably would have cheered the Limited/Movie race in 2018 up quite a bit (except it wasn’t going to get nominations over or beat Versace in any of its categories).

FYC Emmys : THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL, SUCCESSION AND THE CROWN IN ALL CATEGORIES. Tony Shalhoub ("Maisel"), Cate Blanchett ("Mrs. America"), Matthew Macfadyen, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook ("Succession"), Tracey Ullman ("Mrs. America") and Louis Gossett Jr. ("Watchmen")

I suggest it’s better for you to watch the whole season since its just 8 episodes anyway. I am mixed with the whole season but its entertaining over all and has its moments especially the beginning. It just declined during the “assassination” episodes. As I have said recently, my favorite episodes were The Harrington Commode for its sheer quirkiness and The Voter which is a totally detached episode tone-wise but might be the closest to what the series is trying to be, but failed to achieve for different reasons. But an easy-viewing nonetheless so you might as well watch the whole thing. It was definitely a good season finale and it also makes me look forward to the second season.
