Gyllenhaal’s absence prevents the title of this thread from being true.

Only allowed ten poll options. I had Gyllenhaal in initially, but ultimately went with Danes for the tenth slot. I could have included an “other” option, but I was wary of a Balfe swarm. I would personally vote for Gyllenhaal before many of the actual options for what it is worth.

Went w/Russell. Here’s how I would rank the rest based on what I’ve seen:

    Comer
    Foy
    Moore
    Davis
    Oh

Keri Russell I dream about winning the Emmy, since her performance should be undeniable on merit alone in my opinion, but alas I realize that is just a dream. Curse those SAG voters for never nominating The Americans anywhere! SAG nods for Russell and Rhys would surely have helped their Emmy chances on creating more buzz for their performances within the industry.

Also, great poll Riley! Lot’s of great performances laid out here to choose from, though out of respect for fans of The Deuce I would have included Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Thanks for clarifying. I get the 10 options thing. Whoever wins the Emmy for this category should be proud of the extraordinary level of competition they needed to overcome. Even Moss, who I feel many would call a lazy choice, had her undeniable moments of greatness in THT Season 2.

I love Moss, Foy, Danes, and Moore but no one beats Queen Viola Davis for me. I found Gold Derby because I wanted to know what her chances were last year. She makes acting look easy. Every single week she brings her A-game to HTGAWM and she’s also the glue that keeps the show together when the writing is messy.

I love Russell, Foy, Moss and Danes very, very much, but no one can compare to Maslany, what she does is beyond extraordinary.

Ivo, I am surprised you picked Maslany. I thought you were surely gonna go with Moss or maybe even Russell.

I too think Maslany is great and I probably won’t be sad if she won.

FOY ALL THE WAY! Her subtle acting destroys all of these loud, dramatic acting.

I just realized a Foy and Russel Tie at the Emmys would probably be the greatest Emmy result of all time and will make it okay for the academy to literally reward Margo Cameos another ten times and I won’t mind.

Don’t even bring that up… that is my #1 dream and I hate to think of it now since I know it won’t happen. I thought for the longest time the “last chance narrative” would help Russell out more than Foy, but as SAG proved time and time again the industry doesn’t give nearly as much of a shit about The Americans as they do The Crown, plus FX hasn’t exactly spent Netflix dollars on those FYC Emmy ads. BOTH Foy and Russell should be winning, period. 😐

Even though it wasn’t her episode submission, she would be one of the greatest Emmy winners in any category of the decade for her badass line delivery in Vergangeheit alone, “How can you forgive yourself?” The Queen has spoken, to quote Prince Philip later, “casting a snake out of the Garden of Eden.” Dear lord she was believable as royalty.

I love and admire all of them very much, but Maslany is on an another level. Sadly, not enough people have seen her here, so a win for her does not see possible, but she already have an Emmy, so I am fine with her losing to Moss, Russell, Danes or Foy.
