I think I saw an ad for this. Something about a monkey butlerFebruary 15, 2019 at 8:02 am #1202777280
Lol, yeah, there is a monkey butler in it.
So, done with the 1st 5 eps so far. The show is giving me a lot of Haunting of Hill House vibes although it’s not so dramatic and it’s not about ghosts but mild superpowers. It’s about 7 kids born on the same day, along with plenty others around the world, who get adopted by a billionaire who later on trains them when it comes to their powers. They grow up with him as their step-father and also have a step-mother. So basically it’s about a bunch of kids with complicated relationships with each other and their parents just like Hill House and the whole parents-children concept is indeed similar to Hill but I don’t wanna spoil with details.
Now awards-wise, obviously such show isn’t the academy’s cup of tea, but I think it could get a couple tech noms such as make-up, visual effects and maybe production design. Acting-wise, the casting couldn’t be more spot on. Ellen Page doesn’t have a lot to do but she plays the character perfectly. Tom Hopper is surprisingly decent. Robert Sheehan is once again delicious, I love him, so underrated! The rest of the 3 siblings’ actors are also quite decent although I had never heard of them before. As of the 7th sibling’s actor, his role is small and is played by also an unknown actor, without giving anything away.
Mary J. Blige and Cameron Britton have surprisingly great chemistry. Also great casting on Britton. I was afraid with Blige, but she does fine too.
That’s it, it isn’t something wow, I find it very refreshing and entertaining though, though bear in mind, I’m far from done, got 5 eps left.
Hopefully, other people watch too, otherwise I made this thread for nothing, lol.

I Heard a Rumor is definitely ellen page emmy tape if she ever gets nominated. She gives by far the best performance of her career in thatFebruary 25, 2019 at 3:16 am #1202793047
As someone over the age of 35, I’m mature enough to know that great works of literature and culture come in many forms – including comic books. The Umbrella Academy is rich, intriguing, and masterfully written. I will be among those watching.February 26, 2019 at 9:20 pm #1202796763
The show isn’t happening at the Emmys, but I’m happy it’s a hit.February 28, 2019 at 1:28 am #1202798623
