Meandering as usual from Chris Carter. The CSM reveal was well played but I’ve since lost interest in that character who should be long dead and forgotten. Same with the kid.

Still here for Mulder and Scully though. Always and forever.

    Whoop diddy scoop!

Can someone please tell me if I can jump straight into this season without having watching the previous one. I’ve seen the first 4 seasons so I’m not completely new to the show.

Just terrible. The writing vacillated between florid voiceover narration and piles of cliche-ridden dialogue. Poor Gillian Anderson, stuck playing a doctor desperate to get out of a hospital against medical advice without really knowing what she was going to do if she did.

As for whether you can watch this without having seen the previous season… the show has its head so far up the ass of its own nonsense at this point that no one could really decipher it, so I don’t see how it matters one way or the other.

With episode 2, Glenn Morgan was able to bring back the Mulder and Scully personas, a thing we haven’t really seen (though we’ve got a glimpse of it in ‘Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-Man’) since maybe season 7. There was some weird ass writing (“I don’t care if this was up an alien’s butt but i’m going to eat it”) but it just feels so… them.

Ok so watching episode 2 now and I gotta ask: 1)Why has Dean Haglund not been more in the forefont ever in a movie or tv show?
2)This episode was great and the best I think out of the past two seasons…so Emmy writing worthy?
    My grade: A+

I thought both episode 2 and 3 were huge improvements since the premiere.

Tonight’s episode was seriously the fucking shiznit. One of the best stand-alone episodes ever. So many Easter eggs and so inventive. Minimal dialogue was very effective; it seems counter-intuitive, but I think this deserves writing awards consideration. Glen Morgan’s direction was tops too. Bouquets all around; for a season that had such a rocky start to produce an hour like this is remarkable.

Just finished watching this and Damn. Wow. A+. Emmy for directing could be in the cards for this one.
