I dip in and out when it comes to watching the show but I started watching it again from season 2 and watching the three male leads of this programme makes me feel so out of shape lmao.

EDIT: Just saw Luca posted this on the previous page. Guess this is as universal an opinion as Pen15’s Metacritic score!

FYC OSCARS : PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN IN ALL CATEGORIES (ESP. ACTRESS – Carey Mulligan AND ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY — EMERALD FENNELL), VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", ESSIE DAVIS FOR "BABYTEETH"

Probably why Hartley has been snubbed continuously lol.

I’m so sorry I’m a dumbass and I didn’t read the previous page of this thread! Haha what a coincidence.

Well at least I now know it’s a universally shared opinion! My apologies Luca.

This!! She’s so great! She, Justin and Sterling are def stealing the season. Mandy’s material has so far been, um, nonexistent, but maybe that’s because of her pregnancy.

The ensemble on this show is so stellar that it always feels like some characters are getting shortchanged. The big three have been shining this season, with Ventimiglia and Moore being somewhat sidelined. I would also really welcome another showcase for Kelechi Watson, as this season seems to be building to a significant one for Randall and his mother. Hartley has been my favorite for the last few seasons but all of the actors deliver when the material is there.

The premiere cited as one of the best episodes of 2020 by The Washington Post.

    ‘Forty’ (‘This Is Us’)

In an era in which streaming tends to overshadow network TV, it’s nice to see a prime-time drama as reliably tapped into the cultural zeitgeist as “This Is Us.” The NBC show’s fall premiere saw the Pearsons processing the pandemic and protests over racial injustice. Randall (Sterling K. Brown) commanded the episode as he reflected on his childhood in a White family that talked very little about race despite having adopted a Black son. A present-day conversation with his sister Kate (Chrissy Metz) further captured the complexities of our national discourse, and the burden Black people often bear when it comes to calling out racial disparities.

Well said, I wrote it in my personal recap.

That scene between Brown and Metz was gold.
I can’t believe the show never received directing/writing nominations when they had whorthy contenders every season.

I can’t remember, but do they submit a lot of episodes for Writing and Directing each season?

Yes probably most times they didn’t submit well, but voters for me are clearly snob towards the show and The don’t see anything beyond acting.

In 2019 would have been my writing winner with Songbird Road part One or Our Little Island Girl

So true. But I do admit they need to submit better. There was no reason to submit that “Waiting Room” episode for season 3.

worthy writing/ directing contenders in each season:

    Pilot, Memphis, Moonshadow

Number 1, Superbowl Sunday, The Fifth Wheel, The Car

Songbird Road Part 1, Our Little Island Girl

The Dinner & The Date, Clouds, After The Fire, Strangers Part 2

They never (hardly?) submit Kay Oyegun which is a shame because she always has the strongest episodes.
