I have a lot of catching up to do. But, TV-erformance-wise, I’ll always remember 2015 as the year Vera Farmiga slayed it on Bates Motel.

She was snubbed of nominations for it at TCA, Emmys, Globes, and SAG, but at least she nabbed a CCTV nom (where she should have won over Taraji P. Henson). It was, like, career-best performances in at least five of the 10 season three episodes.

Her performance and this series remains a gem for those who have yet to watch (and I’m guessing that’s a lot since there wasn’t a passionate response to her snubs).

    1. Kerry Washington (Scandal)
    2. Olivia Colman (Broadchurch)
    3. Abigail Lawrie (The Casual Vacancy)
    4. Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey)
    5. Allison Janney (Mom)
    6. Jane Lynch (Glee)
    7. Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story)
    8. Viola Davis (HTGAWM)
    9. Tuppence Middleton (Sense8)
    10. Lea Michele (Scream Queens)

(NB. I have only seen the first three episodes of this season of Fargo. As such Kirsten Dunst would currently be at no.11 as I haven’t seen enough of her performance yet)

Lots of great names mentioned above.  My list is a catch all of actressess, I did not differentiate between supporting or lead, simply who I enjoyed watching the most this past calendar year.

    1. Kirsten Dunst-Fargo
    2. Viola Davis-How to Get Away with Murder
    3. Vera Farmiga-Bates Motel
    4. Keri Russell- The Americans
    5. Wendi McClendon-Covey-The Goldbergs
    6. Eden Scher-The Middle
    7. Lena Heady-Game of Thrones
    8. Allison Janney-Mom
    9. Tatianna Maslany-Orphan Black
    10. January Jones- Mad Men

Honorable mentions go to Melissa McBride (The Walking Dead), Joanna Going (Kingdom), Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep), and Aya Cash (Your the Worst).

It’s awesome to see all of the love for Vera Farmiga here.  She truly turned in one of the best performances this year and possibly a career best of hers in “Norma Louise”.  Although we already knew how great she was as Norma Bates, this episode was still a revelation of sorts and acting at its finest.
