I’m thinking of Sharp Objects, True Detective, the final season of Game of Thrones (if eligible in time for next year’s Emmys), the final season of Veep, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Barry, Silicon Valley, and Big Little Lies, and now I will make a bold prediction:

Next year, not only will HBO take back the Emmy title of “most nominated network” from Netflix, HBO will receive the most nominations in a single year it has ever received.

Now, if only HBO had some acclaimed “Bojack Horseman”-esque Animated Program so that it could win that category as well.

I loved this trailer. I think it looks really intriguing and Mahershala Ali looks in peak form acting-wise. I like how it showed really enticing snippets but didn’t show anything too specific about the actual plot. I also thought the same things about the True Detective Season 2 trailer, but even though I didn’t hate that season as much as everyone else seems too, I can see why it pissed off a lot of people. Hopefully this 3rd season is the best-received one yet.

And one of their best dramas, The Deuce, but the Emmys just don’t care.

I’ve never been too impressive with Ali, so having him lead the next season concerns me some, but the trailer looks promising. Hopefully this season won’t be as scattered as Season 2.

You mentioned Silicon Valley twice, but I think there’s a strong chance that it won’t be eligible as they’ll hold it for the second half of the year. Its absence from the promo is already kind of telling.

That had not occurred to me. There is still time, but goddamn it.

Funny, I accidentally included Silicon Valley twice because I was not sure if it would make Emmy eligibility next year and was reluctant to include it in my list. I ended up deciding to include it when I forgot I had already typed it out previously.

True Detective Season 3 will premiere on January 13th.

Already dreaming with a March release for BLL and May release for GOT.

The premise and trailers are promising, but I hope this season returns to the Lovecraftian tone of season 1. That was key to True Detective’s initial success.
