I figured if there’s a forum talking about underrated actresses on TV, why not make one for actors too. Some examples I can think of:

Nick Offerman as Ron Swanson on Parks and Recreation

Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister on Game of Thrones

Danny Pudi as Abed Nadir on Community

Michael McKean as Chuck McGill on Better Call Saul

All win worthy performances that only had a total of one Emmy nomination in between them

Rufus Sewell in The Man in the High Castle is my pick for this season. Such an effortlessly controlled performance that never strays into winking devil villain territory.

    Freddie Highmore – Bates Motel

Freddie Highmore – The Good Doctor

Alfie Allen – Game of Thrones (Yes, he was nominated for the final season, but I honestly think he also deserved nominations for several of the previous seasons)

    Justin Theroux – The Leftovers

    Peter Capaldi – Doctor Who

    Anthony Stewart Head- ‘Buffy’

David Boreanaz- ‘Angel’. The man has been a leading character on television since 1997 without a year off. A remarkable career!

Chris Lilley- ‘Ja’mie Private School Girl’

Evan Peters- ‘American Horror Story’. Youth could understandably be made a case for his snub when AHS debuted, but he has never once not been brilliant on that series. Murder House, Asylum, Freak Show, Hotel and Cult were all worthy of nominations (the first and last being win worthy.
