The second season returns tonight!
I was a huge fan of the first season. I thought it should have been nominated at the Emmys forDrama Series, Lead actress (Smollette-Bell), Lead actor (Hodges), Supporting actor (Miller), Supporting actress (Vann), Guest actor (Smollette), Guest actress (Porter), writing/directing (Firefly), and tech categories.
Will anybody else be watching tonight???
Does anybody think this show can eventually catch on at the Emmys?March 8, 2017 at 3:38 pm #1202032389
Does anybody think John Legend can get a guest actor name check nomination?March 8, 2017 at 7:21 pm #1202032468
He wouldn’t exactly be a name check just because he’s never been awarded as an actor anywhere before. However, I feel if this was watched by more voters and was on a different network then he’d probably ride the hype for a show that deserves for people to take a look.March 8, 2017 at 7:53 pm #1202032484
I really hope this show can break through somewhere. I could see it getting a writing nomination.March 8, 2017 at 8:06 pm #1202032490
WHAT A STELLAR PREMIERE!!! Aisha Hinds is so great and would be such a great guest nominee. So would Adina Porter. I love Adina Porter. I hope she comes back in a bigger role. And no Cato. I need me some Cato.
WTF! They killed John. WHAT THE FUCK!!!! I need him to get a guest nomination. He was SO GREAT in this episode. I’m hoping this gains momentum with critics and makes it to the Emmys. Ugh what a devestating episode. I am definatley adding this to my predictions at the TCA’s. Critics love it and the second season is stronger than EVER!
Smolette was great. She needs a nom. As was Hodges’s. He needs a nom. And Vann also needs a nom. She was fantastic. This should be a contender in every categoryMarch 8, 2017 at 8:08 pm #1202032491
And this show has the best music choices by the way.
also, Aisha Hinds has a lot of buzz from shots fired. supposedly she is the best part. And supposedly it’s a great show. If the voters fall in love with that show, it would be so amazing if they gave her a guest actress nom for this show!!!March 8, 2017 at 9:09 pm #1202032536
I’m glad to see someone else loving this show. Tonight’s premiere was on point and definitely set the tone for an exciting season 2. I too hope that several of the cast members get some Emmy love especially my girl Amirah Vann!March 9, 2017 at 4:39 am #1202032704

Amirah Vann is just beyond everybody else when it comes to acting talent.March 16, 2017 at 11:33 am #1202038557
Another great episode! Jessica DeGauw is killing it. As is Vann. And Bell is amazing as well. All of them would be worthy Emmy nominees.March 16, 2017 at 11:42 am #1202038561
I binge-watched first season and freaking loved it. Plan to do the same when this season is over.March 22, 2017 at 9:13 pm #1202044163
WOW! It’s rare that a show with such a strong first season continues to raise the bar the following season. Underground continues to raise the bar week after week. Both Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Amirah Vann performances tonight were both Emmy-worthy. Both women displayed the courage and strength that was needed to survive during those times.
Kudos to Jurnee for performing all her stunts while being 7 months pregnant! Also great casting choice for Ernestine’s Mom! Hope it’s not the last time we see her on the show.March 25, 2017 at 10:56 pm #1202046301
What a great season. I’m predicting it Get drama at the TCA’s. Amirah Vann was so good in that last episode. She was SO GOOD. She was SOOOOOO GOOD. If she was nominated on the episode system, there is no way she could lose. She blows MBB, Thandie Newton, Chaikin, Adina and basically everybody out of the water.April 10, 2017 at 10:48 pm #1202062907
The premiere was great but ever since then it has been lacking the spark that Made season 1 so great. Alano Miller is great though. All of the acting in the show is great. I can’t wait for wedensday’ episode all about Harriet. I absolutely love Aisha Hinds right now on this and Shots Fired. It is sad because she will probably be completely snubbed all around.
Don’t get me wrong, the season is still good, but the last two episodes have been disappointing outside of Millers performance. Just a few weeks ago I was raving about how good this season was lol. Hopefully after the next episode Things will start to get better.April 12, 2017 at 7:37 pm #1202064969
Bra-fucking-vo! I am motherfucking speechless! I have no fucking words! Actually thats bullshit. This episode was so good that I have a billion word. FIrst of all, my one complaint was that this was oubviously inspired by the Laurie Metcalf episode of Horace and Pete, maybe a little too inspired. However, it was still undeniably good. Shit! It was fucking amazing! Speaking of Laurie Metcalf, Hinds gave the best performance since Metcalf on Horace and Pete. I honestly wish that Hinds will not return so that she can qualify for guest. Hinds is fucking unbelievable and is is such a damn shame that she proably won’t get an Emmy nomination when she should be getting two Emmys. She is the next fucking Meryl Streep! Between this and Shots Fired, she is THE best episode currently on TV. She is fucking stellar. I don;t know what to say she was so good. This episode deserves writing, directing, Hinds, and so much more. Fuck this was good. The director of this has been working in the industry for years and got his first nominatioon last year for directing OJ. I wonder if he has enough good will from that to get nominated for this. My grade: A+!!!!!!Riley (the normal one, not the one who won the predictions contest)ParticipantApril 12, 2017 at 7:47 pm #1202064971
I do not watch the show, but I had read advance praise for her performance in this episode from critics. Does it seem like she will be back and thus ineligible as a guest?
