I can’t believe someone can watch the third season of the show and justify cancelling it (although back then not everything was The Good Place and could be saved by their critical and audience acclaim in spite of low viewership).

To be fair, NBC did sell The Good Place as “Netflix Original” everywhere except the US so they probably did make some decent on it.

Emmys FYC | Alan Tudyk in “Resident Alien” | Billie Piper in “I Hate Suzie” | Ego Nwodim in “Saturday Night Live” | Kaley Cuoco in “Harley Quinn” | “Dickinson” | “P-Valley” | “Pose” | “Superstore”

Yes! I started it around the new year and I found it magnificent! Granted one or two of the episodes were hit and miss in the beginning but the performances especially Gillian Anderson’s and Madds Mikkelsen’s were top notch.

    You finished Hannibal?

Also, the third season was cancelled while airing the Italy episodes in the first half. They didn’t wait until the finale to axe it, so the really strong reception to the second half of the season 3 didn’t factor into the decision. I’m still waiting for season 4 – hurry up Fuller.

    For Your Consideration:

Best International Feature: Instinct (The Netherlands)
Best Actress: Carice van Houten (Instinct)

Yes! It was a rather quick new year’s binge hehe. Sorry I completely forgot to post about it (I keep meaning to post about it and a few others in the “What Have You Binged Recently” thread but I keep forgetting).

Outstanding performances all around. The ensemble was almost flawless imo and Gillian Anderson, Madds Mikkelsen, Laurence Fishburne and even Hugh Dancy (who I wasn’t so much of a fan of before watching) were win/nomination worthy. ESPECIALLY Anderson and Mikkelsen. I think those two performance might be competing for my favourites of those two.

I also like how distinctive its visual style was and how well executed and psychoanalytical its character study was (how was Mizimuno not nominated for Writing and Directing? This show should have won the Drama Series Emmy for both its final seasons!)

I have only watched some episodes of the first season when it first aired so I don’t remember much. Lately I’ve been seeing online that Killing Eve is similar to this, is that really the case?

I understand why the comparisons have arisen (largely due to their similar subject matters and to the small similarities between Oh and Dancy’s role) but imo Hannibal is quite different at least tonally. It’s more of a drama than Killing Eve.

Dhavernas (nomination) and Armitage (win for the best performance of his career so far) also should’ve received Emmy recognition. That ensemble was too good.

Hannibal is completely different to Killing Eve in tone, visual style, and quality quite frankly. The first few episodes of season 1 are often considered the weakest, but from then on it’s incredible.

Yeah it’s almost like the reverse Killing Eve lol.

    Absolutely!

Also this show had the definition of WIN WORTHY direction.

I am quite bitter that Laura Linney won absolutely nothing for Ozark “Fire Pink.” She lost the Emmy, GG, CC, SAG, and TCA.

This is going to cause a fight (IDC) but Zendaya should have NOT won the Emmy…..

Huns I posted a while ago that I found season 1 of The Americans boring and didn’t continue watching it after that but recently I’ve wanted to give it a second chance because everyone always says how great it is does it get better?

Her first. season is one of the best! Although my personal favourite is the final season (with “START”, “The Summit” and “The Great Patriotic War” it was THE bitch!)

when I started watching The Americans I didn’t know she was in the series, when I saw her I was VERY happy!

    I agree 100% with you!

Emmy FYC: P-Valley in all categories; I May Destroy You in all categories; Sandra Oh, Steven Yeun and JK Simmons for "Invincible".

International Emmy FYC: Camila Morgado and Eduardo Moscovis in "Good Morning Veronica" (globally on Netflix). Alessandra Negrini in "Invisible City" (globally on Netflix).
