Hacks has no plot and isn’t very good. Jean Smart does her best with mediocre material. I’m 4.5 episodes in and not sure I’ll continue. Hannah Einbinder are her character are … not enjoyable to watch.

Emma Corrin’s performance as Diana, Princess of Wales, is vastly overrated, and she’s outacted in Seasons 3 and 4 of The Crown by almost every actor with whom she shares the screen, including Emerald Fennell. Corrin is competent, but she completely lacks the incredible charisma and star power that made Diana such a compelling figure.

I finished Escape at Dannemora and Amy Adams was robbed of those winter awards for Sharp Objects! Patricia Arquette’s performance felt like it lacked the depth that Adams’ had.

Yeah, Adams losing awards to whatever the fuck Arquette was doing was an absolute robbery.

Yup. And I LOVED Amy & Patricia C. I just loved Patty more on both Dannemora and The Act. Her Dannemora performance was filled with depth IMO.

I did like Arquette in The Act more than Clarkson in Sharp Objects (Clarkson was obviously really good but Arquette was absolutely terrifying in that role) but I just really didn’t get the fuss about her performance in Escape at Dannemora.

Whilst watching Dannemora (I didn’t really follow awards season back then or as much as I do now so I wasn’t really caught up in any of the conversation around either Sharp Objects or Escape at Dannemora at the winter awards) I just felt like I could see a performer act? In spite of Arquette’s performance being “transformative”. On the other hand whilst Amy Adams didn’t necessarily have a transformative performance, that performance was the strongest I have ever seen of Adams. She BECAME Camille Preaker. You felt the character’s trauma and I hadn’t thought for a single second that I was watching Amy Adams “perform”. Hence why I vastly preferred her performance to Arquette’s.

But anyway I’m not sure how unpopular this is considering she swept the winter awards and I wasn’t following the conversation on Gold Derby at the time but Michelle Williams in Fosse/Verdon >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> both Adams in Sharp Objects and Arquette in Dannemora.

It’s not unpopular at all. Michelle had, at the end of the day, the most acclaimed perfomance of the nominees. Also, she only lost the Gold Derby Award by just a vote and I remember a lot of users saying they voted for Adams because they wanted her to win something for the role, even though a lot actually prefered Michelle.

Totally, I cannot believe someone would say the same. Arquette lacked depth?! What?! Arquette really disappears, she does has zero vanity, she does not care if she looks gross, disgusting, ugly, horrific, she gives everything to every role. Adams is one of my favorite cinema actresses, but she really disappointed in Sharp Objects, she acted and behaved like a movie star in so many moments, never really transformed and was annoyingly repetitive (some of that was the writing and the directing). And yes, Williams above everything and everybody.

Chernobyl is pretty overrated all around. Yes, it’s a well-made show, and it has the highest ratings & most passionate supporters on the internet, but I simply didn’t connect. Like the show presented the whole thing quite realistically, yet, it was way too story-driven. I couldn’t relate to its depth that way, I missed the multi-dimensional characters and the emotions. The only time I was emotionally invested in was the time of the animal-shooting scenes, and the old lady’s intro in Episode 4. Other than that, we have gotten a bunch of scenes in a very jumpy way that wanted to show the whole story. I’m not going to comment on the English-language/self-accent thing, but yeah, I thought it was a lazy thing to make the show in English. People would have watched it either way with a more authentic cast & dialogue. As I said, overall, it was a well-made show, but I wasn’t overly passionate about it.

My guess on why Chernobyl is so popular and beloved is that it’s the first scripted depiction of the event which apparently many were curious to learn more about. People were interested in the depicted topic of Chernobyl disaster rather than the qualities of the show Chernobyl. I don’t know if I explained myself correctly. This is also the case for many historical films at Oscars with the recent example of TTOTC7.

Personally, it’s the last in the lineup. I even liked The Act more.
