I guess it’s the perfect time for my unpopular opinion that of the 2019 nominees, Escape at Dannemora should have won. I thought it was just excellent. Hill House would have been my choice, but you know, it was shut out.June 10, 2021 at 11:32 am #1204294975
Mad Men Season 4 is the second-worst Mad Men season. It’s still good, because of course it is, but there are only 2 actively great episodes in it (The Suitcase and The Beautiful Girls), and the show mostly seemed to be spinning its wheels until it started moving things forward again in Season 5.June 10, 2021 at 11:35 am #1204294989
Russian Doll should have swept in 2019 (although I do still stand by my view that JLD should have won Actress lol).
FYC: All things The Crown, Hacks and I May Destroy You (and Hannah Waddingham and Julianne Nicholson whilst you're at it)!!June 10, 2021 at 11:39 am #1204295040
I slightly prefer Fleabag, but both are essentially perfect seasons of tv, a Russian Doll sweep would have been excellent.
For me that year in that category:
1. Russian Doll
6. Schitt’s Creek/The Good Place
All excellent seasons of television!

Look, Chernobyl isn’t an undeserving winner, even if I personally would have picked Sharp Objects. I guess we all have our preferences which is perfectly fine. That being said, I don’t think this deserves a Top 5 best of the best mention in IMDB ratings, and I wouldn’t let this show near writing prizes for the lack of depth in characterization.June 28, 2021 at 10:52 am #1204321575
Claire Danes should’ve been nominated for all seasons of Homeland. She was also win worthy in the 4th season.June 28, 2021 at 11:18 am #1204321612

Perhaps my unpopular opinion would be that Bly Manor is in no way a sophomore slump. The writing is simply TERRIFIC, worked just as a breakdown of a complex math equation in which at the end you understand it all.June 28, 2021 at 1:14 pm #1204321799
Michael C. Hall and Hugh Laurie deserved a nod for every season of Dexter and House. Even when their shows faltered they were always amazing.
Additionally, Hall>>>>>>Krause in Six Feet Under and he deserved all those nods that Krause got.

Speaking of Six Feet Under, I don’t understand the criticism for “That’s My Dog”. In my opinion, it was a gripping hour with a powerhouse performance by Michael C. Hall. (who didn’t even get nominated, whaaatt!?)
Lead Actress (Drama) - Emma Corrin ("The Crown")
Lead Actor (Drama) - Billy Porter ("Pose")
Writing (Comedy) - Maya Erskine ("PEN15")July 1, 2021 at 5:37 am #1204325513
Perhaps on a level of quantity the comedy field this season is weaker than the drama field but on a level of quality the reality couldn’t be more different. Out of the top contenders this year in drama the only I’d nominate in a competitive field like last year’s would be The Crown. Shows like Girls5Eva, Hacks, Pen15 and Ted Lasso are not only more worthy of consideration than some of the show’s nominated in comedy series last year but each of them would be as worthy of a series win as the comedy series winner last year.
