I love tonight’s episode. A much needed kick into high gear setting up the final three episodes of the series.April 22, 2019 at 4:29 am #1202861688
I hated the last episode…it’s too on the nose of current day politics. Amy is now Kellyanne Conway, the Chinese influence storyline will most likely end with Selina in jail and/or lose the presidency and Jonah Ryan as president as a quasi-Trump.
This show is now only for liberal baby boomers who still think Late Night shows that call Trump the “Cheeto president” is innovative satire. This is like SNL-level grabbing from the headlines nonsense instead of a thoughtful satire of American politics.April 22, 2019 at 5:01 am #1202861699
The Jonah storylines keep on becoming more absurd. That Math teachers are terrorists bit was honestly so stupid.
It’s also becoming really annoying to see Selina and her staff get fucked over by Tom James after trusting him again and again. It’s getting repetitive and doesn’t make sense.
I don’t even want to talk about Amy’s cringy CNN interview.
I think this was supposed to be a big episode for Gary but didn’t come across as such. Time to change my predictions I guess.April 22, 2019 at 9:26 am #1202862000
While some people thought this episode was too on he nose, I still thought it was a lot of fun. I will admit though, Amy becoming Kellyanne Conway was too much. I don’t mind Jonah acting like Trump because I feel like it’s still the same character I’ve known throughout the show. Amy, however felt like someone completely new in that last scene. Hopefully whatever goes on with her in the following weeks, we still get to see at least some of the old Amy
Also I loved Dan getting fired at the end. The best part of his character has always been watching him fail, showing that for all his talk, he’s just as dumb as the people he looks down on. If life’s treating him well, he just comes across as an awful and annoying douche. It felt like it’s been too long since the show handed him a noticeable loss, so I’m glad that he finally got screwed over in a major way this yearApril 22, 2019 at 9:43 am #1202862040
Another fun episode, but Amy turning into Kellyanne Conway was indeed ridiculous and unnecessary. I don’t agree that the changed political climate is some kind of excuse to go in a different direction.
MacNicol may finally get nominated!April 22, 2019 at 9:58 am #1202862060
I really hope MacNicol can finally get the official nomination that he deserves (in my heart his initial season 5 nom still counts) I think he’s gonna have to appear again to get nominated, and I’m unsure if that’ll happen or not. Cause if he couldn’t get nominated for his amazing season 6 scene, I don’t think this will cut it.April 22, 2019 at 11:54 am #1202862178
I think one of the THR articles about the final season mentioned a scene in which Uncle Jeff and Selina both berate Jonah, so I think he’ll be back! As long as he doesn’t appear in each of the next three episodes, he’ll be eligible, too.

If that’s true, then I’ll be rooting hard for MacNicol this upcoming ceremony. Especially since Laurie is now officially out of the running. Ironically because he appeared for a few seconds in an episode just like MacNicolApril 25, 2019 at 12:05 pm #1202866494
I did not see Rhea Seehorn in the episode, but I saw her name in the credits at the end. She and Andy Daly and others are not guest-eligible (and HBO is not submitting them), but they have SAG nominations and possibly trophies coming their way to compensate and then some. I long assumed that we were heading for a #VeepSweep this year, then the historic guild dominance by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel gave me pause and this is the episode that has me finally switching my winner prediction.
“South Carolina” was not particularly bad or even bad really, but we are more than halfway through the season now and Veep does not feel like has its sights set on any kind of finish line, nor does it have much left to say. The satire in this episode was especially regressive. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is still fresh and I am thinking that voters might be more excited about its novelty.
What is first of all tricky about supporting actor is the discrepancy between the academy’s taste and ours. They have nominated Matt Walsh the last two seasons over Timothy Simons and we have done exactly the opposite at the Gold Derby Awards. I thought that Simons might have had his series-best tape last week, but Jonah started transitioning to more of a backseat role in this episode, while Mike might have taken on a more active role, along with Gary.
EDIT: Was not suggesting that Seehorn was not in the episode.April 25, 2019 at 12:11 pm #1202866511

Standing behind Tom during his announcement.

It makes you believe that not a lot of voters watch the show. Walsh is on the first page of the ballot for half the voters, so it’s hard for me to see him snubbed and Simons nominated.April 28, 2019 at 10:22 am #1202870473
Episode: Super Tuesday
Synopsis: Facing increased scrutiny as Super Tuesday approaches, Selina turns to Mike to help deflect coverage of Andrew’s legal woes; Amy helps Jonah ramp up his anti-Selina rhetoric, while Dan tries to align himself with Richard.

Three episodes to go and I am still waiting for a WOW episode.April 28, 2019 at 10:59 am #1202870511
It’s only Super Tuesday? They really should’ve been past this by now and gotten to post-convention (or at least this be the convention episode).April 28, 2019 at 11:11 am #1202870521
I used to love this show but this season so far is just not it.. I’m kinda hoping for another Maisel sweep at this point.April 28, 2019 at 12:45 pm #1202870652
I honestly was thinking this the other day. I won’t be surprised at all if this loses everything but Actress to Maisel or maybe other shows too. It’ll probably win Series too cause it’s the final season, but I honestly don’t see it winning anything else.
