    So what’s HBO’s comedy successor?

Insecure will get a profile rise and probably become a bigger Emmy player as it goes on but I doubt it’ll ever get nominated for series let alone win.

Silicon Valley could take its place if it actually is in second, which it probably is.

Barry will probably flop so I don’t expect much.

Curb you’re Enrhusiasm will probably be competitive for a nomination but if it couldn’t win before I doubt it will now.

I expect HBO won’t win comedy series for a while after this year.

I’m debating this too, no show has been nominated as many times as Curb has and not won in their category, so I don’t know if that shows that the TV Academy isn’t that crazy about it or if it sets it up to be the overdue underdog in this category.

Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.

    Halleluiah!

Yeah, it will be great when JLD’s slot in the Comedy Actress lineup opens up to an actress who isn’t Kristen Bell.

I think it will most likely be Tracee Ellis Ross once Veep ends, seeing as how Black-ish is year by year slowly increasing its nominations with the actors branch specifically.

black-ish barely has heat now; it is going to be dead at the Emmys in two years.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is not going to be Veep‘s successor at the Emmys because even if comes back again, it is not going to do so immediately, so the answer is Silicon Valley by default (because Insecure, Ballers, Divorce, Crashing and Barry are obviously not series-competitive).

My question is who is the person who finally gets nominated, following the likes of Becky Ann Baker, Laurie Metcalf, Matthew Fox and Kristin Davis? The answer of course could be nobody, as this kind of thing did not pay off when I thought that it would for Laura Carmichael, Alison Brie and Dean Norris as I predicted.

Messing, Brie, and Stone are more likely than her.

As much as I’d love to see some new winners in Comedy Series and Actress this year, it would be pretty cool if Julia won for all 7. On the other hand, I’m glad that the Emmys can’t lazily give it 5 Series wins in a row like they did with Modern Family.

All these detractors of Veep, and it still won the GD award for best comedy. Delicious.

Depending on how season 7 turns out, this may be my favorite comedy series of all-time, so I’m sad to see it go, but I’m relieved that they’ve found a strong end-point for the show.

Can GG voters give her a fucking win already?

My bet is Timothy Simons. In a perfect world, Sarah Sutherland would also get a nom too

As much as I’m not a Veep fan, both it and JLD are probably unbeatable for the 2019 Globes.

Good. It’s time to wrap the show up after a middling and divisive sixth season. Prayer circles for Timothy Simons, as always.

It only had twenty-two percent of the vote.

More than any other show, so I don’t see how that’s bad.

Even Veep’s worst season is better than Modern Family’s best season, in my humble opinion.

Barely had heat, sure. But the heat is still clearly there, as evidenced by an upward trend in acting nods year by year.

Season 1: 1 nod for Anderson

Season 2: 3 nods for Anderson, Ellis Ross, and Comedy Series.

Season 3: 4 nods for Anderson, Ellis Ross, Sykes, and once again Comedy Series. The show just needs to keep inching up in nods until it eventually becomes undeniable.
