I trust this team to give a satisfying conclusion. I really did think that the show had an extra two seasons in it, but what Mandel and JLD mentioned not wanting to go around in circles, season 7 as the final one makes sense. If Selina were to win the presidency, while I think it could make for great TV, they already mined great comedy with Selina as President.

It only had twenty-two percent of the vote.
So if Veep can win in a system that only counts #1 votes, like at the Emmys — on a forum that is more conscious of repeat wins — I’m not sure I buy a dramedy unseating it in a few weeks.
Teridax: “Barely had heat, sure. But the heat is still clearly there, as evidenced by an upward trend in acting nods year by year.
Season 1: 1 nod for Anderson
Season 2: 3 nods for Anderson, Ellis Ross, and Comedy Series.
Season 3: 4 nods for Anderson, Ellis Ross, Sykes, and once again Comedy Series. The show just needs to keep inching up in nods until it eventually becomes undeniable.”
It’s going to be a real threat for season 14! 😉

Yeah, it will be great when JLD’s slot in the Comedy Actress lineup opens up to an actress who isn’t Kristen Bell.
2016 People’s Choice Award for Best Premium Cable Series Actress winner: Kristen Bell, House of Lies. Beating 3 Emmy winners; Lisa Kudrow, Claire Danes…and precious JLD.
Scoreboard.

September 7, 2017 at 1:30 am #1202205991Fabulous news. I really like this show but season 6 was just atrocious. Hopefully they’ll do their best because if season 7 being the last one. As for JLD she’ll be finally having a fight to win #7 because Debra Messing is getting some great material (I had a pleasure of reading more scripts). And there’s current it girl Emma Stone but these ain’t Oscars, Emmys do not care about hot young things and judging by material her character had in original she ain’t winning for supporting role (unless they enhance it).

ReplyCopy URLSeptember 7, 2017 at 2:01 am #1202206026Will be devastated to see it go, but they may as well go out strong and not overstay their welcome. This will likely fuck Messing’s chances at the Emmy in 2018, as they will probably give JLD a farewell gong.
ReplyCopy URLSeptember 7, 2017 at 2:29 am #1202206041As I have said earlier, I hope they will put Walsh as a guest this season, so Simons could have better chances of getting nominated.
And about the series finale theory, the full circle, if that happens, wouldn’t it be too fast to happen in 10 episodes?
ReplyCopy URLSeptember 7, 2017 at 4:18 am #1202206063They made a great decision on ending it by next season. I’m sad about it but it’s the right thing to do.
ReplyCopy URLSeptember 7, 2017 at 5:49 am #1202206096I’m relieved, not only because this will potentially stop JLD’s Emmy haul at 13(!) wins, but because I feel the show really shifted at the end of season 3 and then with the prolonged seasons 4 and 5 (which I feel could have been compressed into a great series finale) once Selina Meyer wasn’t the Veep anymore. The humor of a powerless yet power-hungry vice president that started the premise of the show was gone and I just never got on board with “the continuing misadventures of Selina Meyer” as the changed concept. Mostly, I just hope that Chlumsky finally wins an Emmy, so that she isn’t “Julia Duffy”d (well, not quite, because Chlumsky would end at 6) for her run on the show. Speaking of which, I do think Duffy would make a great fit in this universe and hoping that she can get a guest spot in this last season! Emmy wins for her and MacNicol may just make dealing with whatever is left to explore in a final season worthwhile!
ReplyCopy URLSeptember 7, 2017 at 6:47 am #1202206157I am sad to see one of my favorite shows come to an end. This series was a career best for many of the cast and I hope that it will help the cast get just as good material post Veep. Julia has been everything in this role. I would say the role is above Elaine Benes. I would love to see her go on and expand her film career a bit and go on to get an Oscar. She is very talented and would love to see more variety of roles for her.

David Mandel said they have great material for Mike next season. Unless we hear otherwise, there’s no reason to think Walsh will only appear in 4 episodes of the season to be eligible for Guest.

So painful her abrupt exclusion from season six.

Did Kristen Bell win the 2016 People’s Choice Award for Best Premium Cable Series Actress? Because you never bring it up. The PCAs mean shit. IF they did NCIS would be sweeping year after year.

I hope she’s well, there was that picture where she looked really ill.
