Old Christine was good, but nowhere near as memorable or funny a vehicle for Louis-Dreyfus’ talents as Veep. I honestly would not have even given JLD the award Old Christine. I think that Jane Kaczmarek got robbed for Malcolm In The Middle’s final season. Nobody else could have played Lois as perfectly as she did.

Oh I agree 100% – Selina Meyer is the role of a lifetime, and in my opinions eclipses both Elaine and Christine. But Christine was still a fantastic character, and one of the better sitcom characters written for women in recent times.

JLD’s most worthy year (and best tape) for Old Christine was 2008, but nothing was stopping Tina Fey and the 30 Rock train. I never cared much for Jane Kaczmarek, but it is a shame Lisa Kudrow didn’t win for her superb Valerie Cherish and that Debra Messing only one won Emmy for her Grace Adler (although that may very well change in the next few years). Either way, I’m glad JLD got Emmy recognition for Old Christine and if that came at the expense of others, so be it.

Agreed. I would have traded Dreyfus’ first win with one for the third season, which boasted her best episode submission of the series “One and a Half Men,” but I’m glad she took home one trophy for the show.

I agree with you in that of the Best Actress nominees in 2006 that Jane Kaczmarek had the best submission and should have won.

It’s a shame Kaczmarek never won, she had some poor submissions though, back when tapes really mattered. It’s also weird Cranston wasn’t nominated more for that show.

Per Twitter, it looks like the whole cast, including Julia, convened two days ago for the first table read of the final season.

Just asked Christopher Meloni if he is coming back and he said that they wanted him, but he has a scheduling conflict!

I cannot freaking wait! I’m thrilled for JLD’s survival of her breast cancer and to be able to see one of the greatest actors ever in her career-defining role.

Any theories as to what the series finale will be? Will Selina or Jonah Ryan become President? Or will they pull a plot twist and neither gets elected? What if they blackmailed each other about shit the other has done? Just an idea.

Also, what will it take for Timothy Simons to get Emmy-nominated?! Even if he gets snubbed completely by the Emmys next year, we have got to go our own way with our Goldderby TV Awards and finally give him the win!

I feel like I’m probably alone here, but I would love to see Reid Scott nominated. It’s not that he’s not good, it’s just they always tend to nominate the exact same people, and make it hard for characters like Dan or Jonah to get in.

I literally was on the train to work this morning thinking of this award and was thinking she should win it this year. Congrats Julia, well deserved!

Christine wasn’t the greatest of shows but it was freaking amazing several times during its run. It has some truly great episodes. Dreyfus should’ve later when she truly deserved it as she did have great submissions. But for season 1? Just no. Kaczmarek should’ve won.

Julia was delightful on Kimmel. So glad she’s doing much better.
